A source with knowledge of the discussions told the Guardian that Greig’s appointment was part of a process of “detoxifying the Daily Mail” after Dacre’s editorship.

While I'd be thankful if the Daily Mail turned into less of a rag, you have to question whether they'd be able to retain their readership if they changed their political angle. What happens if the DM suddenly loses half their readers? Do they simply change it back?

Of course, I'm happy whether the DM changes its angle or simply disappeared, but still.
