It honestly looks like you can see the low frames @ 1080p Insurgency has the same issue, I get like 80 - 100 fps on it, while I'm getting 400-500 fps on CS:GO despite it being the same engine
Well the video is rendered at 30fps so you can't really judge what the perf is going to act like from it.
I haven't played Insurgency since the sourcemod days, has the devteam changed, or is it still mostly the same people that worked on the mod a decade ago?
Insurgency Sandstorm isn't using Source.
The creative leads of the mod are still working on it, and pretty much the whole team from the source game are still on.
Looks like bad frametimings or perhaps something done with the video itself. Looks almost like they did post process motionblur on the recorded video, and it's not predicting movement correctly.
So is the story campaign back? Also I'm not sure if it's intentional but some of those insurgents looked like teenagers.
No, this is coop footage.
Some unedited gameplay footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7q1jtYiRjU
Really loving how the voices propagate through the walls and corners along with all the great sounding death screams and suppression lines. Still gonna miss Mikey's funny as shit screams though
the addition of real projectiles as opposed to hitscan solutions has already improved the gameplay by at least 25% IME. You can see a lot of moments in the video where guys miss moving targets or even manage to duck into cover before getting raped, this just would not happen in source INS, which contributed to its very "twitch" shooter unrealistic feel and is also part of the reason suppression and squad tactics are completely useless and most people play it as a twitch shooter or camping pixel scum hunt.
That shit would make my head explode after about ten minutes of play, and it's pretty clear from the gameplay video it's just slathering blur and OMB all over everything for the "so immersive"s. Hopefully you can turn all of that off.
wait is "I wish I joined the air force" guy not in Sandstorm????
I think he is, he's just not voicing ALL of the security teams' lines
Closed alpha sign-up went up again today, hoping I manage to get into this one.
To me it doesn't really seem any better than Insurgency its self. Between this and the original sourcemod, the only thing that's real additions other than greater graphical fidelity (which is a given) is the addition of coop, weapon customisation and the particular setting/factions. Guns seem to have much less recoil in this than "Insurgency 2" and that's really saying something. The trailer gives the impression of a story-driven coop campaign which could be cool, but other than that I don't see anything this does that INS2 doesn't already.
thanks for the tip
Coop was in the original ins, but besides that Sandstorm's got: -New engine -Better graphics -Brand new maps that are significantly larger than Ins -Several new weapons and gear items -Ballistics system -Fire support system -Drivable vehicles and mounted weapons -More environment interaction (Breachable doors, destructible items) -Vaulting -Improved game balance (Reworked supply system, removal of AP and HP ammo, etc) -Better Coop AI -Better competitive support It's a full sequel.
Technical alpha download has gone live, for those of you who got in.
downloading... thanks sergeant...
Insurgency coop was really fun, especially on insane maps with huge bot counts, so I'm really looking forward to Sandstorm and hope it has good server hosting capabilities.
The guns don't have much less recoil. It's just that in the gameplay of BigFry and other experienced players they know how to control recoil. There was this other video with some randoms playing at E3 where one of them panicked and sprayed his AKS-74U and it went skywards.
