For the last 2-3 years if you've ever been an admin (or on a build server) you may have noticed something called a Smoke Rocket WIP!!!! Some people used it back in the day (even on a raid cam) and it was very effective for making a raid tower powerless for a short time. If you try and use them now they dont have any effect, not even smoke comes out anymore. These should get some love because it would change the game of raids/defending, being able to smoke out a raid tower and make them have to come out of their base to shoot rockets or move to a different spot can make all the difference in the world. I could go on but I think I've made a pretty good point. Should they be added? I think so.

I have noticed that as well. I do think that if you are after a defensive option then maybe the idea of smoke grenades could be looked at.
Level 1 - bean can smoke - smaller shorter duration cloud
Level 2 - F1 grenade - military grade smoke screen, dense cloud
level 3 - Satchel Charge smoke - a big arsed smoking monster

My beef with it: There's too big an environment for it to have any effect on the general world; Uses like localisation and whatnot would only bring unwanted attention, in other words useless; For raiding and/or defending inside a base... Like how even? You wouldn't see a damn thing inside small corridors, legitimately only getting in the way for raiders, and defenders well, giving them a small amount of time I guess...; Inside monuments is the only place where there'd be a good use, due to the big clutter around, you'd use the smoke to move around without the enemy knowing and positioning yourself somewhere with better advantages or hiding, but only if it were grenades, not rockets.; Maybe using it in high density forests to give yourself a better chance at escaping, but only with a grenade really... Reloading a rocket for a smoke doesn't really give you a big chance to run.
This would mostly be for clan bases/bolty towers, if you are onlining a clan or a big base in general smoke rockets would be good to make the defenders have to shift from a tower to a lower level: ie you shoot it at the top of a tower or shooting it at a FOB outside to make any person(s) with a rocket have to stop firing or move out of the base to shoot it, If you need more detail let me know. (Smoke rockets wouldn't be needed unless you're raiding/defending a clan base)

I did the same thread a two months ago and have already heard all the arguments for and against,
For raiders it allows you to get close to walls and foundations and C4 them under cover of the smoke then find a "safe" spot to kill any defenders that appear when the smoke clears. And for defenders it allows you to send coordinated groups out under cover of the smoke you have laid down to get behind your enemies and kill anything outside your walls ,
My opinion is "if you havnt used it dont knock it" , I have used it to effectively to raid and to defend and that is one reason i did a thread about it two months ago
Well in that case I agree the use of a smoke rocket would be useful, but we can't really make compounds that big anymore (Not in official at least) though removing the bolty-man vision would still prove good.
Again, I agree the cover the smoke provides is good in certain circumstances, but not when placing C4, unless they haven't seen you enter the smoke. What I'm trying to say is: You shoot a rocket at a target, it is now under smoke, should any defender see you coming in, they just need to time some 'nades, like I did and got called hacker for it... (Plugins, not official server) Or just a counter rocket really, but that damages your building too.
About the defending side, again not a rocket, like, this never happened to me just so you know, the rocket sound will 100% give you off, also the smoke line... Even a grenade might give a hint, but in heat of battle most people won't notice it, so angling any wall would be useful, but if you were out in the open... I mean unless the smoke was fucking huge it wouldn't make too big a difference.
But now that I think to myself, I really wouldn't care if it were added, maybe I'd even get a new opinion after seeing how people use it, I just don't think it's useful. BUT if they were to add Tear Gas... Now that I would love!
Think of a slightly less thick smoke than the supply signal pillar of smoke but more horizontal than vertical and you get the picture, I have had them fired through a window into a base and you cant see f*** all for about 3 minutes (from memory) , You fire 3 or 4 rockets into base windows or open doors and the defenders cant see you do anything for a while.
Does everyone see smoke the same? The only way I could imagine it working is if it works like CS:GO where it immediately fills an area.

I doubt it would work because reliance on clientside will only open the gates to exploits. Since it would likely appear differently for every player, some would get an advantage and others would not. If it was entirely serverside It would be too laggy for the server to handle everywhere too with the amount of textures smoke requires. CS:GO just smoked an entire area immediately and it worked since it affected the entire area 100%.
