that'll stop em from being sexually frustrated and raping real kids
imagine thinking banning a sex doll because of the way its shaped makes sense but banning a gun because of the way its shaped doesn't
one side or the other guys
you cant fuck a kid to protect your family
I mean this is the same country which all too frequently suspends children from school for things as utterly inane and retarded as biting a poptart into a vaguely gun-like shape so it shouldn't be surprising.
The bill is called the CREEPER Act, which stands for Curbing Realistic Exploitative Electronic Pedophilic Robots Act.
okay that's pretty good
Priorities, honestly.
anatomically correct child sex dolls
thats creepy af
This accomplishes less than nothing.
Technically that's not true. If someone was holding your family at gunpoint and telling you to fuck a kid or they die then technically you can save them by fucking a kid. That'd be so incredibly fucked up I doubt it would ever actually happen though.
It's one of those stupid laws where no one dares to vote or say anything against it because they would be ostracized. It's the same with UK's porn laws.
testify in front of congress
Daily reminder that pedophiles aren’t inherently bad people; sexual predators are.
That said, this is a toughy cause yeah, it’s gross, but at least it’s not real kids.
Actually it has happened before. I've read stories about serial killers and serial home invaders doing these kinds of things. And while it wasn't explicitly with a child, there was a local guy holding groups of college students at gunpoint and forcing them to perform sexual acts on each other.
what the fuck is even that thumbnail
Strippers competing against stripper-bots. That's the actual legit story for it. It was this year at I think CES.
When it comes to regulating stuff like this, we need solid evidence that it increases the risk of harming real children. Being gross isn't sufficient for moral policing.
A lot of psychologists suspect it's the opposite case (this is the case w/ normal porn and sexual violence iirc,) and you can find some trying to investigate the use of shit like this within therapeutic settings too. Though it's still up in the air.
So would this count as a thoughtcrime, or a thotcrime?
These things are disturbing to a pretty advanced degree, but they're rubber dolls, not actual children. Whether or not they should be illegal, in my mind, is not based on their appearance, but on the impact these dolls would have on actual pedophiles. So, the question here is: how does exposure to these dolls interact with the sexual urges pedophiles have towards children? Does exposure to the toy-assisted roleplay and fantasy increase, decrease, or have no notable effect on those inappropriate urges?
Though it's hard to feel totally comfortable with, if there's actual therapeutic value in these things for mitigating urges of pedophiles to engage with actual children, then I think it's something that we should consider.
Likewise, if the exposure only feeds their urge to make the fantasy a reality, which is not something that would be surprising to me, then I think making them illegal is obviously for the best.
If exposure to these dolls has no measurable effect on the predatory sexual urges of pedophiles, then whether they should be illegal comes down to a strictly moral argument. What they represent is disturbing, predatory, and violent. Is the depiction alone something we should actually be censoring, however, given that there are no actual victims? If you say yes, does that same logic extend to other depictions of disturbing content, such as grotesque violence in video games or media?
As a person that has worked with sexually abused children and seen the effects first hand, I honestly can't stand the arguments that are had around this issue as if it is some kind of philisophical debate.
Whether it is therapeutic to have them as alternatives to absolutely dead end cases where it's one or the other, of course I am in favor of using things such as this, I couldn't claim to be so high horsey as to say no.
Different kinds of drawn porn like loli and the like though, when it's spoken about on the internet as if it's OK because it's fictional drive me absolutely nuts. I can't get the image of what has been done to those kids out of my head and to see some people take the issue so lightly is infuriating for me. If someone feels the need to buy one a sexual object that resembles a child I really do feel they should automatically be put on a register, and I am one of the first people to argue for liberty of choice and freedom of privacy.
Have you ever seen A Serbian Film? Chilling documentary, really makes you think.
I know it's not a documentary calm down
That's definitely understandable, man.
Wait how would something like that fall under the same category? Aren’t those just glorified Japanese flesh lights?
I mean, now I get a weird mental image of a burglar suddenly realizing he doesn't want to be anywhere near this particular home anymore.
A quick Google search has me convinced that prison isn't good enough for whoever uses one of these.

Understandable, but extreme emotional responses like this only push people with those urges deeper into societal ostracization and likely drive up their likelihood to be disconnected from others and thus willing to commit these kinds of crimes. If you think society already hates you despite you having not yet committed a crime, simply due to an uncontrollable mental illness, why would you avoid committing the act they already assume you to have done? You have little to lose, and might even justify it as a form of revenge against society.
As you said, there needs to be research into whether satisfying those urges with non-harmful (ie. no victims) means, like dolls, drawn or animated porn, or VR/AR devices decreases the urge to act on them, or only makes the person more willing to do the real thing.
If it's the latter, then regardless of our emotional inclination, it's definitively better for society, since at this point, there is no cure for such an attraction, and vilifying these people will not help them seek the therapy that might help them control themselves. It only pushes them into hiding and socializing with other outcasts on the deep web that may try and convince them their urges should be acted on.
As I am sure someone will bring up, chemical castration, preventative lockup or monitoring, and other extreme measures are never a solution as it will mean no one would ever admit these urges and thus the only people who volunteer to enter some public registry are those who are likely conscious of their problem enough to not act on it. Those likely to act on them would not admit to it knowing the consequences.
You'll never hear it coming.
“These dolls can be programmed to simulate rape. The very thought makes me nauseous,”
Why yes Mr. CoffeWithMilk, I don't think many people would agree that's pretty disgusting. So why not focus on what makes people turn to shit like this?
Oh right that would mean having to help people with a mental ilness
I agree wholeheartedly with this, please don't get me wrong, it's obvious that it's a mental illness and needs to be treated with the care that any mental illness deserves.
My focus was primarily on the internet which is now by and large on many websites, even this one at times which I respect above honestly all others, is creating a culture where it's excusable to promote such things, which is something I can't condone what so ever.
Regardless, if someone is buying something like this, or watching things that can be associated with sexualisation towards infants they need to be watched very fucking carefully and dismissing it as a good thing as it may fulfill their fantasies is reckless and a danger to the public.
Conservatives generally ain't much for no fancy book learnins
