The opioid epidemic is such a shit show
some people would blame Mexico but no, this shit is on us, we did this to ourselves.
It's a homegrown drug hysteria and we can't point the finger at anyone except ourselves.
Horrible politics+economic hopelessness=turning to drugs.
Kind of scared me a little that my psychiatrist was quick to try and prescribe me benzos for my anxiety/panic attacks, and only prescribed hydroxyzine (basically a beefed up benadryl, but works for anxiety attacks as well) only after I told them I did not want to be on any kind of benzo.
Combined with doctors giving opioids out like candy no less
Doesn't help that doctors were incentivized to prescribe opiods by drug companies.
