There's a pretty big difference between storing thousands of emails with classified information on an unsecured private server, and using gmail to improperly to conduct official duties on a dizzying five separate occasions.
Only 113 of the emails contained classified information, but the amount was never the big issue, it's just that she had a private server to begin with, which seems ridiculous in hindsight considering: A) Prior Secretaries of State did it B) People in Trumps campaign did it C) Republicans in congress did it and presumably still do it D) The person investigating her did it.
Perhaps professionals who didnt grow up with the internet need to get their shit together in regards to internet security
This is such an extensive laser-targeted self-own "If you used a personal email, Gmail or if you [had] the capabilities to set up your own email domain, if you used an unclassified personal email system to do our business in the course of doing our business even though you were communicating with people with clearances and doing work you discussed classified matters in that, in those communications, TS/SCI, special access programs, you would be in huge trouble in the FBI," Comey said. "Of that I am highly confident," he added. "I'm also highly confident, in fact, certain you would not be criminally prosecuted for that conduct." The IG's report said that despite Comey's admonition to his then-subordinates, "We identified numerous instances in which Comey used a personal email account (a Gmail account) to conduct FBI business."
I've always imagined that Clinton didn't actually have any idea what was going on with her emails, and that the fuckup lay solely with her IT staff.
If that's true, you'd think it'd be really easy for someone to debunk the entire investigation just by relaying this fact. But her campaign and the Democrats did not, so either it's not quite true, or they were even more incompetent than I thought.
The CEO at my old job surely had no fuckin clue how any of his accounts or equipment worked, he just needed them to work.
They probably did but we didn't hear about it because it wasn't clickbaity enough.
The real problem was that she was targeted by someone who knew how to manipulate U.S. citizens very, very well. They threw a million dumb-ass things at the wall and the emails were the thing that stuck.
there's also a difference between making a campaign promise to not do anything like that, and doing exactly that for months into your administration.
Or maybe they should all be punished, for sending classified information through an uncontrolled third party.
Ohh yeah. Like as someone doing security and compliance stuff right now, the place I work at would flip it's shit if they found out someone was using Gmail or something similar to do company business. Many of the people we sell to would eat us alive if we were doing business over Gmail and not a secure internal system. And similarly it's literally my job to find out if vendors are doing this and to chew their ass out of if I caught them doing it. It's a massive security problem. That doesn't mean it is anywhere close to being as big a problem as anything Trump has done even at his best, however. Bigger fish to fry, as they say. Fat, orange fish.
