I used to love FF4 back when I first played it, I even replayed the PSP version (and After Years) on an emulator recently. It's still fun, but as the video points out the story is..a bit more then flawed in a lot of regards.
Nice video covering it, it's honestly a very enjoyable game
Final Fantasy is a great video game series where you can see the devs trying to adapt what worked and what doesn't over the years to try to make the game fresh
Projared always felt like an alternate reality version of TheSpoonyOne where he actually is a decent person and consistently releases videos.
He's always had the same tastes as spoony, and reviewed the same types of games.
They both even have a D&D series where they talk about their favorite rpg campaigns at length.
I like Projared a lot but Spoony in his prime was something else.
It seems to me like the overabundance of fake-outs was, at least partially, a side effect of balancing gameplay and story. From a story standpoint it's more powerful for characters to actually die, but from a gameplay standpoint killing off a character means losing access to that character's abilities, especially since it was a key part of Final Fantasy IV that each character is fully unique in terms of abilities and weapons, unlike the previous FF game where playable characters died off (2) where everyone could use and do everything.
I get what you're trying to say but (at least in the original release) in Final Fantasy IV the party members that leave/die besides like Kain and Rosa are out of your party for good. I think in later
releases you can rearrange your party however you like by the final dungeon, though.
