Or: "YUH" Edition.
Or: "TKs are 15 seconds, but PTSD is forever!"
What is with these threads getting locked in thread related massacres?
Continuing the tradition of stealing borrowing and updating OPs that will last us the end of time.....
Heroes of Stalingrad takes the award winning Red Orchestra franchise into the next generation of gaming. Cutting edge graphics and audio built on Unreal Engine 3, inventive features and streamlined realism deliver an unrivaled WWII experience. Focusing on the Battle of Stalingrad and the surrounding operations, both German and Russian, from July 1942 to February 1943 the game allows the player to experience one of the most brutal battles in all of human history. For the first time ever in a first person shooter gamers will be able to experience WWII from the Axis side in a German single player campaign. As always with the Red Orchestra franchise, Tripwire deliver unrivaled accuracy and attention to detail, along with gritty, vicious combat in multi-player, co-op and solo modes.
Rising Storm is a standalone expansion of Red Orchestra 2, it is set in the Pacific campaign of 1941-45. The game covers the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Featuring some of the most brutal fighting in the Pacific theater, players are able to experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters night fighting and more across Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Saipan, among other historic hot spots. The player is able to take the part of either side – American or Japanese – battling it out online in full player versus player multi-player.
Rising Storm 2 is a standalone sequel to Rising Storm, set during the vietnam war era of 1964-1973. The game covers a large variety of famous battlegrounds in the Vietnam/Laos area, as the US takes on the North Vietnamese and the Vietcong. Each side can make use of era-specific weapons, including automatic and semi-automatic rifles, artillery, flamethrowers and machine guns. For the first time in the franchise, players are able to take control of airborne vehicles, including attack, reconnaissance and transport helicopters. In recent updates, Tripwire has added multiple new factions with their own special weapons. As of right now, you can now play as the Australian Army, and South Vietnam's ARVN.

Hats! (in Rising Storm 2)
At launch, Rising Storm 2: Vietnam offers the franchise's classic Territories mode, as well as two new modes;
-Territories: One of the standard two-round game modes in the series. In order to win, the attacking team must capture all of the objectives on the map before the round ends. The defenders win a round if they can hold on to their besieged objectives long enough to break the assault and successfully enter lockdown. Additionally, one or both teams can enter sudden death if their reinforcement tickets have been depleted which disables respawning. The last team standing wins. A team can win the game by tie breaker if they have a higher overall score.
-Supremacy: A new mode featured in the franchise. Teams capture objectives across the map, earning points based on the number of objectives they hold. A team wins the game if they achieve a greater score. Sudden death and tie breaker are also applied.
-Skirmish: A different take on Supremacy with up to five rounds and featuring smaller maps for official 8 versus 8 player teams. Players must seize all objectives on the map and deplete the enemy's spawn tickets within the timer. Taking over an objective will replenish spawns.
-Campaign: Coming soon????
(Previous thread is HERE: > Red Orchestra 2:Heroes of Stalingrad v.5: Rising Storm <)
Oh boy, finally i found a thread to talk about RS2. Damn i love this game, removing the times i somehow miss a headshot by hitreg! Question guys: Are the DLCs overpriced for your region? For me it's extremely expensive just for a bunch of cosmetics
I crashed a fully loaded huey as a pilot trying to land behind enemy lines.
this is not a good feeling
I had no idea the M9 flamethrower was lighter than the M2 but had a better range.
I love Rising Storm 2 but why are so many maps fucked when it comes to balance
Is there an optimal graphics setting for maximum visibility in jungle terrain? I hide in bushes completely obscured on my settings and yet I seem to get picked out fairly easily.
There are very few maps that are truly fucked balance wise, it's usually bad teams that make maps brutal.
I suppose I exaggerated but Resort, A Sau and another ARVN map I can't recall the name of (daytime, A and B are a bridge and a tiny village with a big river separating the village from the rest of the map going under the bridge) are heavily in favour of defenders.
Resort comes down to bad teams too. I played the crap out of it on bloodbath before it went official, and it was almost always a US victory. Then it goes official, and suddenly the US never wins. I think what happened was before they reverted the boundary changes the map was quite literally impossible for the US, so experienced players just stack NLF, and now that they have fixed it, they still stack NLF. So now you still get inexperienced or just flat out bad US teams that either get hung up on A because of shit pilots, or they get hung up at B because of shit infantry. If you can get a good team that knows what they're doing and can take A and B, the map is entirely in US' favor.
A Sau definitely needs objective locking on A and B, and some destructible entrances on the sides of the firebase throughout the rest of the map to add more dynamic entrances.
Ninh Phu, the other map you're talking about, COULD use some more cover or concealment to allow multiple avenues of approach the bridge, but the rest of the map once again comes down to poor teamplay. The village is an easy Cap, the bridge can be easy if you send a squad on a wide flank and setup a tunnel on the Arvn side of the river. Once you've pushed past the first 2 objectives you want to secure the town between C and D, place some tunnels, a few smoke grenades and boom you've got approach vectors to hit the objectives from the inside. The final objective all you need to do is frag and clear, hell you can even stay outside and keep throwing frags in, place an arty strike in the back of E, and boom they can't reinforce easy cap.
Perhaps I'm just having some bad experiences, I don't play all that often after all. I do agree with most of what you say and maybe it's just bad teams on Resort, I do feel like they could experiment a bit with tweaking the early objectives.
Resort is amazing not only for the gameplay but for the bad pilots that try to land on mostly the beach or on the sides but either get blown out by RPG/AA or just comes down like a meteor and kamikaze him and his teammates
More details about the upcoming update; we're getting deployable heavy weapons(DshK and .50 Cal) and more information about the multiplayer campaign.
is RS2 worth a buy yet
Yes. It always was imo.
If it wasn't before it definitely is now with all the free content they've realesed since the game came out.
I played the free weekend about a month ago and had a blast, I really need to pick it up. Should I wait for new content or just pull the trigger?
I'd never tell anyone to pull the trigger.
You should just get it now though, atleast for the forseeable future there are no great content updates as far as I know.
Since release they have added new maps, new guns, a new vehicle, Australian forces, and ARVN forces. They are currently working on a revamp of NVA (since they cannot add a new northern faction), a new vehicle (M113), and a new gamemode.
>They are currently working on a revamp of NVA
Really? Gimme details pls
I shamelessly have bought all of the cosmetic DLC's as they've come out, I don't know why I just love customizing my guys looks. I just have one complaint, the fact that there are like 10 of the US helmet with that one camo and then a single plain one for the darker camo. Why can't we just choose helmet style and then camo?
there is a multiplayer update coming, adding a campaign mode.
Oh yeah forgot about that, I'm pressuming it's more than just whatever shitty campaign mode RO2 and RS had.
My bad, it's the NLF, not NVA. Although NVA is also being looked at.

Oh boyo!
New stuff incoming guys, only on CTB
I'm excited for the NLF changes, can't wait for the new weapons to drop.
I'd be more excited it the m1 carbine wasn't held together by baling wire that partially obstructs the sites. I really enjoy the carbine platforms in the game but those sites just, ugh.
I hope they add the MAS-36 and MAS-49 for the NLF to use.
I can see a lot of people complaining about limiting AKs to the Scout for the NLF.
