So this is where I'm at with progress https://i.imgur.com/JlLl919.png Not sure where to go from here obviously, it needs to be rigged, and I need to go back and rip the proper default legs, as I didn't notice until recently that I ripped it with void legs, and default everything else... Also not sure whats up with the eyes, I think there is one more mesh that goes with the eyes that I didn't export, but before I do any of that, would anyone be willing to help me put this all together and rig it? I've never rigged something like this before, only basic human models, but I'd like to get this SFM ready if possible.
Cool. Dude, how did you get the model out of the game?
Judging by his previous thread, NinjaRipper.
Yes, using Ninja ripper, then opening the ripped files on Noesis, then scrolling through literally hundreds of files to find the sorlag ones x_x also, like 75% of the time, it doesn't rip all the models, and completely misses the ones I want, so its a bit of a pain. I have the entire model in 3ds max now though, and I'm willing to share it with anyone who is interested in getting rigged or into SFM! I only ask that you share any progress on that front back
Damn dood, awesome to see more QC progress within the community. I've never rigged anything for SFM, only for Maya/3DSmax. Power to you though and thanks for the effort.
Honestly, thats a start I have made my own models in the past, but never fully rigged anything, and working with someone elses model is a daunting task. If you'd like to try rigging it for 3ds max or maya, I'd appreciate that too! I want to do the rip one more time though, because I am missing one part of the mesh, and I noticed afterwards that if I rip the textures while having a shader on ingame, the texture for the armor is white instead of orange, making it alot easier to work worth. Lemme know if you're interested though! thats motivation for me.
I recently ripped a bunch of QC models, sorlag being one of them. Here is an image of my rig for her, including the jigglebones. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109731/afadecea-8d6a-4221-90be-3f46380dbfe6/image.png My rigging is pretty bad so I don't recommend you copy what I did, but it works fine for me.
Nice! I'm having trouble just getting the lower jaw out of the rest of her head... its been years since I've worked in 3ds or maya and I am more than rusty, I feel like I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. Any tips for moving parts of the mesh around, without having to individually select each and every vertex involved (while making sure not to select any I don't want)
I tried well, as it did not work out. Can you tell us how you riped?
I did already! scroll up a little, Ninjaripper and noesis
Maybe you did not understand me ... Well, I generally can not smoke a quake through a ninja ripper. And I wonder how you did it. Tell me please .
I just manually weight it
Can you explain in detail? I'm basically starting over on learning stuff, but this would help a lot.

No, I did not understand, this is very poor english, sorry .... I already described how I did it
I apologize for the impudence, well, my Google-translator. Well, I really need to know how to get models from a quake using the ninja ripper. You can help, and tell your way.
I use blender so things might be different in other programs, but when I weight a piece of the mesh I test to see if everything did it on its own, if not I go back and manually paint the weight over the mesh, most of the time to one bone. My sorlag's entire jaw is rigged to the bottom bone via weight painting.
cool, that helps a bit, I have done weight painting in blender, I'm just not familiar with the process of selecting individuals parts of a mesh to weight (without, agian, selecting each vertex one at a time)
Man i would love to see this finished. Keep up the good work!
actually i think i have someone who could finish everything if youd like to talk to him, he said to just message him on steam. here the link Steam Community
i spent a whole month trying to fix the uvs on blender for a whole month and gave up. if only i knew what to do specifically : l
