Since i have some old stuff to dump from my screenshot folder, i just wanted to open a thread where you can share your happy little junktowns. Here's some stuff: Sanctuary: https://i.imgur.com/SWs5lEq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QvSpt4V.jpg Red Rocket: https://i.imgur.com/XNG2JvH.jpg Different Red Rocket: https://i.imgur.com/xEP1R04.jpg https://i.imgur.com/J9fp1MR.jpg
Holy fuckles that Sanctuary is great. Makes me rethink how I've been building - I've been consistently inside the lines making houses along the center street.
How does the ai pathfind with all that?
There is a mod called Multiple Floors Sandboxing that allows settlers to better navigate between floors. As far as I can tell it really helps them get around complex settlements with multiple floors and stairways. Anyway, my settlements. Old screenshots from way back that I posted here in the past. There were some changes since, but you get the general idea: Fort Sanctuary: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237084/4c0d165c-be0f-40de-9bb0-a58c5b10f6bb/2016-01-09_00001.jpg Graygarden Sky Bar: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237084/6d0a9c8d-926d-4bae-9f1c-762f38737810/2016-01-28_00004.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237084/afdc2ef2-7df4-429e-9652-161e5bd51b97/2016-01-28_00003.jpg I turned Starlight Drive In into a crazy crime town surrounding a battle arena, but it's a pain to take screenshots of because the buildings always hide each other. I should try again though. Anyway, my Vault 88 HQ: https://youtu.be/cOYtDQVXsPU
More of a player home then a settlement. https://puu.sh/AGusQ.png
My Sanctuary is still pretty much a crap hole, but at least it's a craphole with nice gates and good defenses. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110302/25de565f-fb71-4b4a-b0f0-8f2ecb53c97e/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110302/3cd8c9c5-afa1-4b31-b31b-5988973bb2d8/image.png And a teleporter! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110302/cc1c490c-aaf8-4d16-b23c-efada78fbc0d/image.png My Starlight settlement is a lot more built up. Full walls, expansive greenhouse, extensive public housing, the core of a decent market, and, fresh from Vault 88, a new Vault-tec super reactor to power the ridiculous defensive turrets. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110302/c9dfe29f-7577-448c-8afc-20e7c444655c/image.png I also have turned the empty settlements throughout the Commonwealth into Minutemen bases of varying sizes, the best in my opinion being the boathouse turned into an armed checkpoint and artillery base in the heart of the north. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110302/d56e1942-9164-4e07-8bb9-963a1f71faa6/image.png
These are all an order of magnitude more impressive than anything I've ever built. I would never have the patience to gather that much material, and the build menus suck so I keep mods to a minimum.
infinite building material tbh having to collect more pencils to be able to build wooden platforms can eat my ass tbh
Lately I've decided to embrace the raider/junk style of building for my raider outposts. My usual settlements are more neat, while these are a bit more thrown together and cramped, but honestly I think they look quite good. Here's my Red Rocket: Looking up from Concord https://i.imgur.com/vpSbAbY.png View from the road from Sanctuary: https://i.imgur.com/uf0iG8k.png Main Entrance: https://i.imgur.com/GZcqbVc.png A couple of aerial shots showing the general layout: https://i.imgur.com/pMokKYP.png https://i.imgur.com/fyoFvDJ.png I could go on, but in the interest of not having loads of pictures, have an album link: https://imgur.com/a/aoCRLyV
Once sim settlements added the blueprints system I stopped manually building and let them take care of it.
I'm loving this thread; I get lots of inspiration from seeing how other people build stuff and often apply it to my own. I'll post some pics of smaller stuff when I get home
a lot of my settlements are either too massive to get a decent picture of- I feel like i'm cropping out loads of my work however I frame the screen-cap, or obviously wip :c
Oh man, Settlements you say!? Let me dump some pics: This here was Bonezone, a town meant to be entirely populated with Skeletons, ghouls, and Mutants. I never quite finished it but I did get some parts looking nice. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/877/b1b46adb-565e-4327-a1b9-ded0ab389acd/20170208055835_1.jpg There was a bar run by Strong and his Supermutant Mafia. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/877/071fb111-b9ed-46b0-b141-dea54e1dbe3e/20170204112010_1.jpg Mama Murphy was the town's skeleton sage. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/877/702a746d-1405-48ff-b456-ec6ed080333e/20170119105629_1.jpg This was my home, and in front the Tree of Death. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/877/00b820d2-5126-4bea-98d9-7b85b021467a/20170119002529_1.jpg And there was a jail for the two worst humans ever. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/877/d59da45a-9730-42d2-a641-870d8be3d1f3/20170121211514_1.jpg And I just realized I have so many pictures of my other settlements that I'll stretch the page to kingdom come. So I'll post an album or something later.
There's a mod for that, though I can't remember what it's called. And there are like thousands of blueprints uploaded to Nexus.
Working on a new Starlight. Need inspiration, Wouldn't like some ideas on what to do next. https://i.imgur.com/ZrVRkm7.jpg
Well the north hill is where a lot of the enemy spawns are in the event of an attack, so make sure that side is sealed and turret it up. Or than that? Giant statue to yourself?
There are no statues. Trying to cover the basics. Factory, Farm, Shops, Living Space. Need a bit of inspiration to fill the void then i'll complete the walls and get the gatehouse built.
What mods do you guys use for settlement building, well not even that how do you build things so close together lol?
Some people use a place anywhere mod that lets you place things even when they're clipping with other things. I use glitches, specifically the rug glitch and the pillar or select all glitch. There are plenty of videos on youtube explaining them, but the basic hack is that if you place something on a rug, it'll move with the rug and won't count as touching other things. This doesn't work on item with snapping, though. The other thing you can do is use a settlement piece that sinks into the ground like the concrete bases or the pillars, put them near what you want to move, and then hold the select button to select all, which grabs the nearby items as well, and lets you move them up or down into the ground with the pillar/block piece.
Transfer Settlements by CDante. I've yet to use it myself but I've heard good things about it and the mod has a few video reviews on it you can check out.
Here's a useful addition to your settlements: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16354 For when you want to make your own synth settlers. And make them all look like Curie. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237084/2bbfa31a-6167-43c3-97f3-b4f2bb8ad4f3/20180620221434_1.jpg
Got a bit more work upon my new Starlight build today. https://i.imgur.com/fxXBUEy.jpg I need some inspriation on what to do with the drive-in building as i don't have any ideas for it.
I often jam a bartender in the open end and turn the area into an open air bar.
It's a shame, I never got around to getting screenshots of my "main" settlements for some reason, but here's a few of my smaller ones. https://i.imgur.com/qUkiL1d.jpg Minuteman Outpost and Fishing Dock. https://i.imgur.com/YDGk0bo.jpg Boston Airport Detention Centre and Supply Depot (Gotta put those darn Brotherhood prisoners somewhere) https://i.imgur.com/QZH0uSk.jpg This Place I was actually proud of, if you ignore the Mortar. I had a Lower Deck as well where I put another little fishing area, and the inside was criss-crossed with shops, bars and restaurants. And the place that with always hold a place in my heart, Little Diamond - My smallest settlement but I loved building it. https://i.imgur.com/tZkzcag.jpg https://i.imgur.com/imHb05A.jpg This makes me want to start a new playthrough for some reason.
@Redcoat893 Just wipe your existing settlement and start a new one, I'd love to see what you could do with concrete at Starlight Drive-in.
Does no one like the island? I didnt even know it was one until like lvl 90, but as soon as I found out, I started moving all my resources there. Im not home or I'd snap some pics
How do you guys plan your settlements or certain buildings, do you just go with the flow when you're in game?
It's too big, I can't really work with it because of that house and warehouse. Enemy spawn isn't exactly good. If i could scrap everything but the boat and the hunt, I would try and build a concrete fortress. I would love to see one built there to prove me wrong tho.
I recently made another Sanctuary settlement, with a mixture of Sim Settlements lots and some clutter: https://i.imgur.com/p6XOgGx.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jHJKqjg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pLjAY31.jpg https://i.imgur.com/RmVb0cQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oc9QUC4.jpg
Have you guys considered uploading blueprints of your settlements for use with Transfer Settlements? Especially if you're using minimal object mods. I'd love a great variety to inject into my game.
