It's about as basic as you can get, but still a classic and it came with two mission packs. GTA (and GTA2) is available for free download on Rockstar's official website, as well as Steam (but you have to buy it as part of a collection there). Mission Packs Release: April 29 1999 [GTA: London 1969] June 1 1999 [GTA: London 1961] These two mission packs were the first expansions for Grand Theft Auto, and set about expanding the core gameplay and changing the main locale to London instead of the United States. Grand Theft Auto 2 [t]http://i.imgur.com/s7a3RIK.jpg[/t] Release: September 30, 1999 For the PC, PS1, Dreamcast and Gameboy Advance. It offered an improved version of the original GTA and allowed you to do work for seperate gangs. -- 3D Era Grand Theft Auto 3 [t]http://i.imgur.com/ECOf0kZ.jpg[/t] Release: October 22, 2001 Hailed the granddaddy of all open world 3D games, GTA3 was released for the PS2, Xbox and PC. The silent protagonist (revealed in later games to be Claude) is betrayed by his girlfriend in a robbery, and you set out to gain revenge on her through moving up in the crime ladder. It set the precedent for all the future 3D GTA games and was very amazing and controversial for its time, as well as establishing Liberty City (the first arguably well known city in the GTA series). It was rereleased later for the iOS and Android phones on its anniversary, as well as being available on the Playstation Network. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City [t]http://i.imgur.com/ftkmmle.jpg[/t] Release: October 29, 2002 Vice City was released for the PS2, PC and Xbox. It is set in the fictional Florida settlement of Vice City, and takes a lot of inspiration and flair from the 80s, as well as loosely following the Scarface theme for the story. Features a lot of rad music, colourful scenary and motherfucking helicopters, as well as introducing the first talking protagonist Tommy Vercetti. It was rereleased later for the iOS and Android on its anniversary, and is also available on the PSN. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas [t]http://i.imgur.com/EKTqTCa.jpg[/t] Release: October 26, 2004 Released on for the PS2, PC and Xbox, it is the largest GTA game to date in the 3D Era. It features a whole state, San Andreas, instead of just one city, with three cities loosely based off Los Angeles (Los Santos) and San Francisco (San Fierro) of California, and Las Vegas (Las Venturas) of Nevada. It is seen to be the most popular GTA game still today, as it bought a lot of new features to the table. The usefulness of these features (the rpg style elements primarily) is hotly debated amongst many fans. Also introduced Carl 'CJ' Johnson, make of him what you will. You can also swim in this one, finally. It is available on PSN and XBLM. Grand Theft Auto: Advance Release: October 25, 2004 Developed by an independant studio (Digital Eclipse) for the Game Boy Advance. Features a new main character called Mike who does criminal work in Liberty City. Considered by some to be the weakest link in the series. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories [t]http://i.imgur.com/JKpk4wC.jpg[/t] Release: October 24, 2005 For the PSP (and a year later on the PS2), this is a spinoff to GTA3 (set three years before) putting players in the shoes of capo Toni Cipriani, who rises through the Leone ranks in Liberty City and earns the trust of his boss Salvatore Leone. Now available on Android & iOS Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories [t]http://i.imgur.com/8bBy8it.jpg[/t] Release: October 31, 2006 Also for the PSP (and again ported to the PS2 only), this is the earliest canon GTA game in the 3D era and is set two years before Vice City, showing how dishonourably discharged army private Victor Vance rises through the criminal underworld in Vice City just to survive (and dealing with Lance.. fucking Lance). Features a lot of pastel coloured suits, more 80s music and the return of swimming. -- HD Era Grand Theft Auto IV [t]http://i.imgur.com/QwBOnx7.jpg[/t] Release: April 29, 2008 The most detailed game ever released in the series, Grand Theft Auto IV hit the shelves for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It details the journey of Niko Bellic, an immigrant fresh off the boat from Europe inspired to start a new life after reading his cousin's many letters about how awesome America is. However, once he gets there he finds out that Roman was just telling bullshit stories and is forced to work his way through the shady dealings of Liberty City to secure some money and deal with his past at the same time. This is set in a completely new universe (with references to the 3D era but no reappearances of the old characters) and features some really amazing physics and graphics, and keeps the overall classic GTA gameplay. Just be weary of getting persistent phone calls from all your friends. There's also the PC port, notorious in its ability to work in technologically impossible ways on every machine as well as being bundled with GFWL, but as of a few patches, GFWL has been removed completely and the game optimised. Episodic Content [t]http://i.imgur.com/dkyLGwk.jpg[/t] Release: 17 Feburary 2009 [TLAD] 29 October 2009 [TBOGT] The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were released as two-parters to GTA4, part of a deal with Microsoft Games for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It fixed up a lot of the criticisms with GTA4 and interweaved the three protagonists stories together (Niko Bellic, Johnny Klebitz and Luis Lopez) into an interesting and satisfying experience, also offering new weapons, cars and a whole bunch of stuff to do. TLAD also requires you to be confident of your sexuality. You can buy GTA4 + TLAD and BOGT in a complete bundle called 'Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City' in retail or on Steam. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars [t]http://i.imgur.com/cz0vYwS.jpg[/t] Release: 17 March 2009 Released for the Nintendo DS, and a few months later for the PSP and iOS, it is the second game (not counting the episodic content) to be released in the HD era and follows the story of Huang Lee through Liberty City. It received impressive reviews for a handheld game. Grand Theft Auto V [t]http://i.imgur.com/Rluz8MO.jpg[/t] Release: September 17th 2013 (PS3 and 360) November 18th 2014 (PS4 and Xbox One) April 13th and 15th 2015 (PC) The fifteenth game in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series tells the stories of three playable protagonists; Michael, a former robber and troubled family man who is now living the high life in Los Santos and unsatisfied with his life, Franklin, a gangbanger who represents Chamberlain Families is looking to get out of the hood and earn himself more cash than all the awful gang related errands he runs and Trevor, Michael's former partner-in-crime, living in Blaine County way out in the sticks. The stories of the three characters intertwine frequently and outside of missions the player can freely switch between them.
Pastebin with thread for easy use for future threads.
GTA Online is bad.
So does that mean I can't play and enjoy the game with my friends?
Most of the problems stem from - unfixed regularly game-breaking bugs, terrible netcode and implementation, blatant and unrestrained cheating, infuriating and endless grind, godawful and sycophantic community, gleefully unbalanced vehicles and weapons, and T2/R*' unapologetic greed If you can get past those issues then it's a good game
I still enjoy GTA. It's a good game to just mindlessly play while listening to podcasts. Every now and then, you run into friendly people too, and interactions like that are what keep me playing.
A lot of shit games can be enjoyed when playing with friends, play it on your own for a while, then come back and let me know how you got on, if you tell me it's still enjoyable then fair enough, but I think it's a load of shit and can't play for extended periods of time, the amount of shit I notice is off putting and shows they don't care, even something as small as animation issues exists to this fucking date. I refer to heels of course.
My biggest issue with GTA Online is how much of a grind it is to get any sort of cash to do anything fun. Though, thanks to some friendly mod menu users, that hasn't been and won't be an issue for me for a good while.
I'm so fucking bored,. I don't care if the update is bad or good, I just want something different to do so I can play the game and be entertained for like two weeks.
New event is live, funmw2 beat me to most of the details: https://twitter.com/TezFunz2/status/1008994409000656896 https://twitter.com/TezFunz2/status/1008995024980336641
Still no Jester? Alright Rockstar, now you're just being assholes.
I think it's safe to assume that we're not getting it until the next update. I just hope that it gets the customization options it deserves when it finally gets released. This big delay would be pretty fucking disappointing if they only fixed some of the basic issues with the car and called it a day.
Or they're fixing it.
Double money on The Bogdan Problem? Jesus. I'm going to be so loaded for the next DLC

It's one of Michael's side missions.
Oh, I thought the "go online" part meant like the actual online part of the game
Is it realistic to expect the next big update in July or do we have to wait till late summer or even all the way to autumn?
It's probably coming in July. Yan said it got delayed a month, and that was around the beginning of this month.
That's relieving. People (MrClickbaitFTW) were speculating Auguest and its like... jesus Christ, that's a long ass time to go with absolutely zero on the updates. Shit man, I already have 6mil ready to chew through like candy. Likely more if I opt to do the Doomsday heists one last time. Rediculously more if I find people using the exploit to replay "Codename Bogdan" a dozen times. Shark cards? Pft. When you're this end game, they just seem like something to laugh at.
6 million won't be enough
Likely not, but I don't plan on simply buying absolutely everything on release. If I wanted to seriously grind I could, but at this point I am tired of selling off cars and just buy supplys for the bunker instead of sourcing because lazy. Doomsday heist added a hell of a lot and I'm greatful, but we're 6-7 months from that massive DLC. Game kinda needs more now, and I don't just mean some new supercar that I'll pass on because I like my Nero (A Tezzuract may be faster. But it's not named after one of the bloodiest roman emperors. Checkmate.) Bogden with double money should also boost my profits by a few mil too, alongside the assault on Mt. Chilliad
Tezeract and Nero succ ass, Vagner fastest super aint no need for any others when you have a Vagner
It's definitely coming in the summer as Rockstar confirmed this with the post about the new music, but I'm not sure how long we have to wait before it actually releases. The qabeta branch has not been updated yet and we don't even know if that's a reliable way of finding out when the next update is about to release since qabeta3 is now a thing on SteamDB. I don't think the Tezeract is worth it, but the X80 and Nero Custom could probably still be useful for stunt tracks as they're AWD and the Vagner is not. Of course, it's not really worth buying anything for racing when the next update could completely fuck everything depending on what they do with the handling flags.
I don't really care about speed anymore, and it's clear Rockstar doesn't either. If a car looks cool to me, I'll get it.
I just don't give a shit about most vehicles because they typically just look the damn same. "Ohh, but the hood is sloped slightly differently!" "Ohh, but the window shape is a little different." "Ohh, the bumper is totally different!" Ehh, they all look about the same. So give me shit thats different. I spend a lot of time driving a half-track around not because its fast or sleek or whatever, and not because I want the armor or the gun. I drive it because its a fucking half-track, its big, bulky, and stands out no matter how you look at it. I love the gun but I'd be tempted to strip that shit out and just have the bed for extra passengers if given the chance. Rolling around as a group in a big fucking truck with tracks would be awesome. Like I very quickly stopped caring about the car aspect of the vehicles. Brand, style, class, fuck it all. Make it actually interesting, or I don't fucking care. The Carbonizzare is one of my favorite vanilla vehicles from launch and my preference for the longest time because of the hard top convertible aspect, that's cool. The Barrage is a beastly looking thing. But half the fucking super class may as well be the same damn car.
While I understand that Rockstar's focus on pumping out supercars (and occasionally putting them in the Sports and Sports Classic class) can get old pretty fast, there are plenty of different vehicles to choose from that were there at launch or are being added. It all comes down to how you play the game, looking for some crews that have a similar idea of fun might be the way to go if you're fed up with pubbing. I've seen some videos of crew sessions using many different weaponised vehicles to mount an attack on Fort Zancudo. One of the things Rockstar really need to beef up for the next game is the crew system and what you can do in freemode without having to funnel people into a lobby system for each individual job and then back into a freemode session. The GTA Online community isn't really a pleasant place to be because people aren't encouraged to group up on a large scale to achieve anything. Rockstar are pitting teams of up to 4 or 7 as a CEO organisation or Motorcycle Club against the rest of the session for a chance at having a fun time, that can all be ruined in seconds by one wayward man and his Hydra. Dedicated servers would open up a world of possibilities for gameplay, hell, just look at some FiveM servers and imagine that sort of gameplay with Rockstar's production value. Even if they made payouts for jobs super stingy, having a wealth of experienced and pleasant players to socialise with and a better quality of gameplay would make everything less of a tedious chore. I know it's very much a pipe dream and that the next GTA Online will basically be 5 but hooked up to a permanent supply of Bullshark Testosterone and have even less incentive to cooperate with your fellow man, but in this day and age we usually wait for the community to hammer games into what we actually want to play. Roll on SixM?
I just think the Vagner looks horrific. Nero Custom is my jam.
that might be the most ironic post i've ever seen
The nightclub update is coming in July Coming Soon to Los Santos
I wonder if the last bit is a possible hint at the business consolidation shit that Yan talked about a while back: Nightclubs are the perfect cover for any other operation you might have going, so get in on the ground level as a business partner to open up a brand new establishment, and help the DJ’s make their shows the best ever. Run your nightclub business from setup, design, staffing and promotion; the more popular the club, the faster your secure wall safe will fill up. Management is honest work, a tidy way to keep income from your more seedy ventures with Disruption Logistics, The Open Road, SecuroServ and Free Trade Shipping Co. looking clean as fresh laundry.
