when he's talking about Bob supposedly "turning into an asshole", he really comes off like he's never had responsibility over someone. Plus, it's like he completely glosses over Bob's change of heart and the fact that he tried to actively change and make up for his earlier behavior by teaching himself math and trying to patch stuff over with Tony for Vi Also, I don't at all agree that it was a cashgrab.
This is the sort of response I expected regardless of the film's quality. I haven't yet caught it, plan on seeing it with my brother later this week, but I'm holding out hope it can keep some of that magic alive. The Incredibles was super key for me back when I first saw it.
I was shocked by how much soul was in this movie, personally. There was a lot of subtlety and a very clear message, although there are a fair few obvious lines (in a kid's movie? shocking!). People who get mad that Mrs. Incredible was in the spotlight really come off like reactionary whiners imo, the whole family has a fleshed out arc except for dash, which is good because I really don't see dash working as a focal character. if it was a cashgrab, they wouldn't have made the core theme of the film anti corporatist, anti massed media, bite-the-hand of Disney, and they would have drilled Dash into the center of the earth be cause he's just begging to be Minions'd.
Saw it last night, I loved it. There was a lot of detail and they took advantage of Mrs. Incredible's pilot skills without even bringing up that she seems to know how to fly anything. Dash being excited about every remote he finds and being an asshole with his sister is appropriate for kids at that age. Violet being enraged and distant for half the movie is also normal for teen girls. Admittedly there was a lot of Jack-Jack pandering but I was laughing hard with everyone else in the theatre during his scenes. The superpowers keep the kids amused but I really enjoyed the writing for a family movie. I don't think it was as emotionally heavy as the first one where Bob thinks he lost his entire family at once, but it was still good nonetheless. Parents don't know what the best option is but they want the kids to be all right, kids notice when the parents are lying and off doing super work, etc. It's the little touches on family dynamics that make the movie for me.
[sp]I agree and disagree with a lot of the points being made. I liked the movie taking place right after the first movie as it kept the family dynamic which was a huge centerpiece in the first movie. Dash and Mr. Incredible were always kind of hot-headed assholes. (Mr. Incredible chucks syndrome out of his car in the first movie, and Dash placing tacks was more than just proving himself, he's always been mischievous.) The thing I really disliked about the movie, was there were so many different plot arcs, with no real main arc. They also don't really improve/ change themselves, so it kind of ends up being a little bit pointless.[/sp]
this is YMS, your regular lot of internet "Film Critics". tbqh people should take guys like him and other similar fuckwits with a grain of salt when it comes to filmmaking.
I like YMS. You don't have to make films to judge films.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Also the soundtrack was phenomenal
I found the main villain to be boring and uninteresting with incredibly obvious plot twists. it's so weird that they go from a movie with syndrome to this mind control person that feels so underdeveloped and uninteresting
Its not about making films. Its more of people who think they understand film but dont. You can make films and not make films and still understand how a film should work.
still don't really think that applies to Adum but i didn't like the movie very much either so i'm a bit biased
I'm not understanding where he's drawing a lot of these conclusions from. They just seem to be outright wrong
but helen still got booty for days
