• NPC Compound Safe Zone warning area

Hi guys last night i was running to the compound after finally finding a satchel nearby and scrap to research it. It has taken me 7 days to find one. But anyway... Can we please have a Warning notice appear when we are approaching the safe zone? I got too close and by the time i realised that my torch counted as a weapon i was marked as hostile. And died. losing my satchel as it was 2.30am. So would it be possible to have a flashing warning on approach to the compound? This way you know how close you can be when hitting barrels etc. Just a thought.
yea i know the feeling that also how i lost 8 aks...... its already like weeks like this and no one is doing something....
Or maybe you just go hit barrels where everyone else is hitting them. Compound isn't any benefactor for noobs and you should never be able to farm under protection of those turrets, that's why they shoot if you're farming too close to them.
I hit a pig outside the safety zone and got mowed down, that's a bit extreme. On the other hand, the turrets mowing down pigs and animals is hilarious.
Will never happen buddy.
we can use tools, but only for 2 seconds at a time.
Maybe you should actually read what the post was about and not jump to conclusions first. I will break it down and make it simple for you. There are barrels near the compound. I want those barrels scrap. Now i would like to know how close to the safe area that i can be before i get marked as hostile when hitting those barrels or carrying a torch at night. This could be a blue flashing warning saying something like "Approaching Safe Area" rather than the Ok or Hostile zone that it is now. Even better it could just be some neon warning signs around the Compound demarcating the Safe Zone margin. This would be easy to implement i would think. Oh and a tip for new players.... if crafting a revolver in the compound... fill all the Use slots with ore metal etc before you do. Otherwise guess where the weapon is created. Seems obvious i know but was pretty funny at the time.
The outpost was always meant to flash the 4 second warning on your screen before marking you aggressive. However a lot of people have have been shot down with no warning being given. This is a bug, needs to be F7 reported every time it happens until its sorted. The cool down has been increased to 30 minutes which makes lack of warning absolutely unacceptable.
A plugin called "Dangerous Treasures" has the type of GUI I wou;ld like to see which is a warning in red which appears mid screen warning you that "you have entered a dangerous zone protected by a fire aura , you must leave before you die" . (along these lines).
I trust you've seen the warning flashing at the top of the screen on vanilla servers by now?
I dont play vanilla 95% of the time. so no I havnt been on a vanilla server and seen a compound on it yet.
I hate the outpost, it too is a horrible idea. Its a survival game, there is not supposed to be some Survival Mall with shit you need!
Honestly, I never even starting playing in groups until the compound was put in. It allows some form of social behavior.
I don't want or need social anything... I just scavenge around and kill people and take their shit! Sometimes I may alliance with a Neighbor but thats it. Like a Real Case survival scenario.
What irks me most is that I do not have time to remove everything considered hostile by the turrets, even if I want to comply to the chipheads ! Increasing the time period would help some players exploit the situation more, so I propose a 2 stage thing stage 1: show compliance (holster any weapon/tool, crouch, sit still). 10 second warning period. Complying grants you 1minute to do stage 2. stage 2: remove/ throw warlike items (or throw something else to make space for them) If you're the aggressor, by complying you have to let the prey escape. If you're the prey, you should have fewer items or less qualms about loosing them than the other guy If you simply want the resources, 10 seconds is plenty enough.
You are missing the point entirely , IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFE ZONE FOR PLAYERS TO MEET AND TRADE The devs are not going to make it possible for you to kill each other when they have designed it for those reasons.
@Thraag1 , I believe you missed my point. Completely. Re-read my post and explain how would my version be more killer friendly than the on currently vanilla.
That timer is informing you that you're in safezone and you can't have weapon equipped, they will definitely not extend it so noobs like you could farm around it without having to worry about any threats.
I read your post and you are still missing the whole concept of the safe zone. I wont argue with anymore as you will continue to believe it is ok to loot and kill there no matter what the devs have designed it for. You have the whole map to loot and kill and yet you concentrate on the one area that is designed for trade and converse, You can walk into the outpost with your weapons and tools in your belt and you will not get shot at so long as you have not recently killed anything in the zone around the outpost, you can use the vending machines etc with no problem at all. Just in case you missed the devblog (as it seems you have) Compound We've added a new monument to the game: the Compound. This is a scientist controlled area intended to function as a safe zone, and there are rules: No Weapons No Looting No Killing No Sleeping If you break any of the above rules you will be marked as hostile and the scientists and their turrets will use lethal force against you. The hostile status persists across death in an attempt to prevent griefing. If you obey the rules then you're welcome to roam the compound and interact with other players in a non-hostile fashion. In addition, you can use the first set of NPC Vending Machines, which sell a variety of items: Basic Clothing Traps & Weapons Resource Exchange Tools Components Building Supplies There's also a pretty awesome chill area if you want to take your roleplaying to the next level
@Thraag1 , the long windy reply you gave avoids to answer the single question I've asked: how is my version more killer friendly than vanilla? If by second 10 you did not show compliance, you're dead or your attacker is taking fire. Period. Also, for those irking to apply "git gud" stickers on everyone's foreheads: take your stickers and stick yourselves. I do not use Outpost, I find it silly, like so many other sides of this game (like tools not being weapons, etc, etc). Big deal. That some, unnamed here, guys support every choice made by Rust stinks to high heaven
I've asked you to clarify: Because your "version" takes into account the ability to loot and kill in that zone , So it is not logical in any way to try to change something that the devs have set up for TWO purposes. Trade and Converse between players, These forums are full of threads and posts that belie that statement. You are antagonistic because people dont like your unrealistic idea that is totally opposite to the intentions of the devs. There are many things the devs have done that I do not like or appreciate and I tell them so. "irritate, annoy, vex, gall, rattle, pique," Don't you mean "impatient" = "restlessly eager" ?. I thought I would ask, Just to clarify it.
