This isn't going to lead to a coup, no siree bob.
is the drug problem there really that bad or is he just making it all bad because of the politics of cults? also I bet a guy like him does a huge amount of cocaine
' THE Philippines has vowed to give free guns to members of the public — so long as they promise to use them to fight drugs and crime ' I can already see this backfiring so hard with black market arms dealers making 400% profits, crime increasing 200% and murder even more.
Imagine hating drug users this much
We've already been shown how violence just boosts drug sales, so, great job, you are cucking yourself.
why would you feel anything but hate for drug users?
...Really? Hope that was sarcastic because... Damn.
he’s arming 42,000 community leaders probably trusted people who can better protect their local communities might end poorly but also I think duterte has good public opinion so the people over the must be approving of this shit and it must be working
or they are fucking brainwashed sheeps who think this is the only right way to solve a drug issue
Considering how large the craft-produced/homemade gun scene in the Philippines is, this doesn't really shock me. What Duterte is pulling is not really aimed at drug users/dealers. This is more about upsetting the blackmarket gun scene, by making the amount of "legal" weapons over the number of currently unregistered/unlicensed craft produced ones. It effectively destroys the small-time gunsmithing community, and forces said gunsmiths into different trades. With the vast majority of said gunsmiths being poverty level, this is going to backfire really badly. Almost as badly as when the Australian government tried to disallow convicted bikkies from being in heavy industry jobs.
This is America.
or maybe after long years of seeing drug abuse and being directly affected by drug use they are happy to see someone actually taking direct action and seeing results?
that sounds an awful lot like a private militia for the president only...
is this a ironic or unironic post
are you confusing drug users with drug gangs
What could possibly go wrong?
Care to uhhhh, elaborate a bit on this?
he’s giving guns to trusted community leaders to better help him fight this war on drugs its not like firearms are illegal in the Philippines 30 something percent of Americans own firearms but you don’t see them as a private militia for the government
I think sympathy/empathy should be the primary emotions felt when discussing hard drug abusers/addicts.
Yeah, you'd want that, wouldn't you junkie?
I don't know how sensationalized this news is, but he isn't giving community leaders the means to self defense, but the power to execute.
You're fooling yourself if you think it will. Duterte is quite popular in the Philippines.
Single-celled organism makes first post, a historic first.
to be fair, drug laws in asia tend to actually be zero tolerance with beyond draconian sentences. Jeffy Sessions would be proud.
Right and when they regulate them that's gonna stop and the government itself will send officials to every home to get them straight and back in working conditions innit
Legalize, tax it, use the money saved from wastefully imprisoning people, and the income from taxes to fund comprehensive and life saving rehab programs. Is that so hard to grasp?
Wastefully imprisoning the people that sell this drug that fucks up lives in the first place? You're right, why would that be a crime.
What drug are you referring to, you seem to have something specific one in mind that you think inherently ‘fucks up lives’
Just hand out free money to the drug dealers so they wouldn't feel the need to sell drugs in the first place.
