This is not a finished OP, I will finish it later https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/441/6c2417dd-ede6-428d-be62-76299e613463/image.png
Damn it, I was about to hit the button. Oh well. In response to your post in the other thread, 343i stopped referring to Halo 4+ as a new Halo trilogy around the time of the Master Chief in a Poncho trailer, now it's commonly referred to as a saga. I imagine the next game will quickly wrap up the threads from the last two games and move into something new.
I don’t know if they can just wrap up that conflict with AIs too quickly, hopefully rampant blue lady fragment can die for good this time
It's good to see that 343 is abandoning their mistaken path and not doubling down and instead returning (or attempting to return) to what was proven good and true to Halo.
I’m thinking open world game on a Halo. Not the whole ring though, because that would be 9 million km^2. At at least that’s what I want.
Well, maybe. The new trailer shown us near-nothing on the intended direction of the game. Honestly there are elements of H5 that I liked (movement options really) but the premier multiplayer mode ended up being bogged down by a feeling of repetiveness, not to mention that whole nagging feeling of pay to win from lootbox cards. Much like Gears, I'm waiting to see some gameplay before making rash judgements
Infinite was confirmed to be the continuation of the story post 5, but gameplay wise who knows.
They also confirmed there'd be a major change in the story and art direction going forward, and we've already seen the latter in the trailer.
They find the forerunner time travel mcguffin and go back in time to Halo 3 and don't fuck up the story
If that was Cortana he was putting into his helmet at the end, then that's a big story change. I expect there to be novels/comics to explained what happened after Halo 5.
Both happy and sad they're going back to a Ring. Like, I love the Ring's environments in the games, but it just feels repetitive. But the fact we're going to get some more wild life is exciting.
God, as much as that would be stupid, I would love for something like that, just undo the events after Halo 3. Have Cortana fire the halos right as MC jumps to slipspace or someshit, causes time travel, I mean, that was the story behind a few things already, in first strike and how a spartan got into a fighting game that took place in modern times.
I'm partway through via the $1 game pass trial. It is stupid simple, but man, it tastes like the Halo universe in a way nothing has since Halo Legends.
I wish they hadn't bothered bringing back the Chief, they should've taken the story in its own direction and let him and Cortana be. it would never happen, he's the face of the series, but all the Forerunner shit rubs me the wrong way especially considering how they just threw all the genuinely interesting and complex stuff (insurrectionists and covenant remnants) basically to the wayside.
The Forerunners were honestly the least interesting part of the Halo to me. They were neat as a backdrop in this universe, but the moment we learned more about them and the focus of the games became entirely about them I lost all interest. I didn't want to learn more about them, I wanted to know more about the UNSC and how shady and under-the-table evil it was and all the stuff surrounding that. Basically what the promotional material said that Halo 5 would be about.
Halo Wars 2 spoilers So is the Halo they sent to the Soell system from the Ark Installation 04C?

Getting there. Can't be too disappointed that the game is in the same state as it was this time last month, considering I've only been giving $5 to their Patreon. Hopefully Xenia will be able to emulate Halo 3 and Reach by the end of the year. Either one would be a good fallback if when things sour during Infinite's development.
What about the rumored MCC port when they release the patch?
Well that's just a rumour/
I probably won't buy it again. Definitely not if it's a store exclusive. I'd be far more apt to pay full price for a Halo Reach or a Halo 3 port through Steam. Hell, probably both.
Halo Wars 1 and 2 came to steam after a period of Windows Store exclusivity.
We don't really know how long it takes for the Ark to construct a ring, since it keeps one ready at all times. At minimum it takes less than six years, since the span between Halo 3 and Halo Wars 2 is 2553 - 2559. It's possible that the Ark already completed a second ring since Halo 3 and sent it to replace Installation 04.
Windows store is bad in that you are not able to limit your download speed (last I checked) but the biggest annoyance of all is that even if you specify another drive to be where games download, they still download the games to your C drive which for me is not very large.
Why would you need to limit your download speed?
Speed might be slow to begin with and your game will take several hours to download, but you'd like to do other things like stream music and videos in the meantime. Likewise, the installs are not modular, this is a problem on the Xbox One as well where a game like Gears of War 4 is 120GB because it has 4K prerendered cutscenes. I've also found the store to be buggy and crashy, in fact on one occasion it bugged out and I was unable to install any Microsoft app from the store. --- Just finished Halo Wars 2 the other day, and while the story was super plain, it was the most "Halo" feeling thing I've seen since Halo Legends.
I do not want to use the Windows store for anything. I also want control over all files installed on my system. Plus, a Steam release at least entertains the concept of workshop/mod support. The same can't be said for a Windows store release.
You can do that with Windows Store though??? People will find a way to mod it regardless if it has workshop support or not.
if you buy it digital on XB1 you already own it on PC. Same for 360/OG Xbox games etc.
I don't think that is retroactive, only with the new titles since E3 2017. I could be wrong.
