I think we all know this is a good thing, these "travellers" as they are called are hardly human, choosing lives of crime over integration. [sp]/s[/sp]
I'll probably take some flak for saying this but I don't a register itself is a bad idea. I personally hate the Romas that are involved with trafficking, drug dealing, theft, etc. but I can't help but to feel sympathy for the others. Like, they're people yet they're not. No social security number, no access to medical care and no contact with the local governments aside from the Office of Immigration once in a while (if even that). Of course I'm basing this on how it is in Sweden where you can find Romas outside ever supermarket, mall and conveniance store begging for money or onboard trains dropping pamplets with horrible swedish asking for money to help their dying family. In my opinion they deserve to be watched over because quite frankly they sort of vanish into the background and in some cases that's an issue because it can lead to worse stuff.
to think i almost missed the /s
Salvini is a racist fuck and nothing he does should be given the doubt of being done in good faith
Not going to argue with that. I'm just sharing my own opinion based on the situation in Sweden. I know that Lega (Nord) are super-conservative and racist.
You know who else is registered? Literally everyone. There's nothing about this that could be interpreted as discriminatory or a prelude to persecution, if you want to live in a country, any country, the government should at least know you exist and where you live. If you lived near gypsies you'd know there's far less /s about this than you'd think. For all the decent fellows among them there's a downright disturbing amount of them who become professional thieves by the time they're 12. And no, I won't believe that "they just steal because they're poor and oppressed" until they stop towing their caravans with shiny new Audis and Mercs. That said, they sure know how to party. Lock up your valuables if they invite you tho, just in case.
How racist of you, the Roma people I've never met all seemed very friendly and there definitely isn't a problem throughout Europe with roma gypsies coinciding with increases in crime in local areas.
Like I said, they sure know how to party. It's just that once the party is over and you regain a semblance of consciousness, something's missing and something's on fire.
Roma people might be bad, but there are other priorities aren't there? The amount of time and money invested in this could yield greater results on other projects.
I think this is one of the biggest problems. I live in Rome and it's a mess, try walking in Vittorio Emanuele square at any time of the day. It's an overpopulated area full of really shady people. Salvini is an extremist and kind of a dickhead, but he's right about this issue. Most of these people don't care about getting the proper documents because they know there's a huge hole in the system, nobody does anything to control them, and without documents they are ghosts, above the law and basically as if they aren't even here, so they can do whatever they want because they know there'll be no consequences. And that only hurts the reputation of those people who'd want to join us, do good things and be useful to our society.
Oh hey look its you from the last thread who refused to hear anything the UK posters were saying about the fact that Gypsies, Travellers, Roma are all the same criminal package to live on your comfy US position where you don't have to deal with em. Nice, good to see you haven't learned a bit. Weird how the US users who don't nearly have nearly as much contact with gypsies never seem to agree with the Europeans who do lol
This is a fantastic plan- but isn't deporting them just going to make them eventually come back. They are travelers afterall.
Because in the US most gypsie families live in New Jersey and burn money for a living. It's a completely different socioeconomic situation in comparison to their Irish/European counterparts.
New Jersey..... I take it back these people really do need help and support
We don’t have many around here that I heard of, but the ones we do have are every bit as bad as you guys say. The only thing is I thought being a Roma was just an ethnicity while being a gypsy was a life choice for shitty people?
The big problem with all of this is how our governments ignore the problems of Romani's for fears of being called racist and thus pretty much pushing normal people over to extremist parties once the problem gets too big. It's a problem I see in general with a lot of problems in the world currently, more moderate parties are being afraid of tackling certain important questions which cause the extreme right to bring them up and gain more voters.
The left has been in decline for decades, campaigning for identity politics and other issues which, while worth tackling, aren't the solution to all the other issues they conveniently forget about They need to get their shit together because the right is gaining and we are regressing
I guess, without security there is no point investing in the future.
You're right, nobody in America has ever lived in Europe, gone to Europe, been in a bad neighborhood, or done any basic amount of reading on certain subjects. We're sitting here on our laurels having our servants feed us burgers while we tell the silly Europoors living in the Gypsy ridden squalor that they should feel bad about regularly calling for the death of certain ethnic groups.
"Irregular [undocumented] foreigners will be deported via agreements with other countries, but Italian Roma unfortunately you have to keep at home," he was quoted as saying. Government minister dismayed at laws preventing him from deporting his own citizens Uhh holy shit they're people
Or we could just bring action against people who commit crimes and not literally target a group of people based on presumptions of uniform criminality?
I meant that they're not part of society. Someone else described it better by using the term 'ghost' because that's what they become. I should probably have worded it better but don't worry, I'm not going to go full nazi if that's what you're worried about.
They refuse to join society and stay at the edges, running in to get healthcare and nick shit before returning back to their enclaves thats it thats all they do
Can you show the source to any of your claims or are those just based on Fox News?
Come to the UK and see for yourself. I'm not knowledgeable enough of the distinctions between Roma, Gypsies, Travellers etc so can't speak to that, but I do know that travellers cause issues wherever they go. They illegally occupy land and leave it for the owner to clean up, they steal and beg, and have a horrendously outdated exclusive, misogynistic, culture. It is a way of life that is completely incompatible with our society. I'd like to reiterate that I don't give a fuck about the race of whoever takes part in this lifestyle, it is the lifestyle and culture alone that is the problem.
Surely there must be a source for it that isn't daily mail considering that it seems like to be such a huge problem, no?
Occupying land illegally (just some from the last month alone): http://www.thewestonmercury.co.uk/news/north-somerset-council-s-traveller-bills-slashed-1-5566948 https://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/travellers-fison-road-estate-cambridge-14794259 https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/travellers-weston-hutton-moor-leisure-1691093 https://www.croydonadvertiser.co.uk/news/croydon-news/council-reassure-residents-south-croydon-1682577 https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/another-traveller-camp-been-set-14741266 Literally just search Google News for traveller evictions, christ.
It's not my fault your reply to "give me sources" was just more baseless claims. Good thing you at least sources one of your claims (which imho doesn't seem that big of a deal), I am still waiting for the remaining ones though, christ.
It's okay daddy will find them. Gender roles: https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/sites/default/files/tcs/research_docs/This%20is%20who%20we%20are%20-%20A%20study%20of%20the%20experiences%20of%20Rroma%2C%20gypsy%20and%20traveller%20children%20throughout%20England.pdf http://www.errc.org/roma-rights-journal/romani-women-in-romani-and-majority-societies http://www.gypsy-traveller.org/wp-content/uploads/file/10_06_09%20DV%20leaflet.pdf https://globalconnections.champlain.edu/2016/04/19/history-roma-role-women-relationship-turkey/ https://www.cheshire.police.uk/advice-and-support/domestic-abuse/domestic-abuse-advice-for-gypsy-and-travelling-communities/ I'm sure there are far more out there but I'm no longer a college student, so I don't have access to a huge library of reports. Also your claim that it isn't "that big of a deal" shows that you're entirely ignorant of the long and expensive eviction process in the UK. Private land is being occupied for months/years at a time and police lack the power and resources to evict them in a timely fashion. Meanwhile, children cannot use parks, farmers cannot use their land etc etc.
