Windows 10 minimizing to desktop disables UI interaction

yesterday i tried to disable cortana through regedit, couldn't do it. i've since reverted the changes i've made.
however now when my computer starts up and i log in, i can't click on anything. if i have a program open, i can click on things, but if i ever focus the desktop it breaks again and nothing can be interacted with. i've tried a few things i've read on the internet and nothing seems to be fixing it.
its more of an annoyance than something that prevents me from using my computer though.
Give this a try:
Press Windows key + X and click on
Command Prompt (Admin). Kindly provide the administrative password, if prompt appears.
To enable powershell script, please type the following command:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted and Click Enter.
Once you have enabled powershell
Type sfc /scannow and click Enter.
Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Don't need to go into Powershell to run 'sfc' or dism.
I'd look into going into "Folder Options" (you can search for it in the Start Menu, look for it in the Control Panel, or open an Explorer Window and go to View -> Options -> Change Folder and Search options) and toggling "Launch folder windows in a separate process".
Sorry forgot to say i updated my nvidia drivers and the problem went away.
