why show the character models, why. It makes it looks like a free2play game.
does the menu theme still explode your speakers?
Now we just need to wait for a Battle Royale mode with building...
It's a trend among modern shooters, not just free ones.
here comes the player model skins oh boy
I'm not sure if this is still running, but iirc it was pretty big a while back.
Go 4 The Kill
This is such a massive improvement jesus
Shame it didn't come earlier
it reset my resolution and turned on fxaa 0/10
they also forgot to implement snd_musicvolume and a bunch of other cvars
Yes and that's terrible. I don't see csgo as a game where the character you play is of any importance, it's just a different model after all yet they show those models like it matters. It will make people just judge and choose T vs CTs by the models like people did in css all the time. On the main menu it may look better for most people but come on it's wasted space, they hid the friends list and your rank just to show that character model. The rest of the update looks good but that just ruins it for me, looks shouldn't go over usability.
Why's this being rated dumb? It looks very similar to the unified battlefield UI. Friends on the right that i assume you can hover over to extend. Generic menu stuff on the left. Panels with blurry backgrounds.
They're not exactly unique to bf1, but when you put them all together in the same way it does kinda look like a bf1 knockoff.
The model isn't even fully visible on 4:3 or 5:4. Pretty big oversight when those are still the most common aspect ratios people play on.
Even on twitter, I'm also not the only one to compare it

They're really not, at least according to Steam survey 4:3 and 5:4 put together barely break 10%.
Looks neat, I hope it will perform better on my computer because the previous UI was freezing when opening some menus.
That's only your reported desktop resolution though, which is going to be your monitors native res, and not the res you play CS at.
Most people who have CS run 4:3/5:4 stretched/blackbars have their desktop stay native res.
You can select the model and the weapon he's holding (with the skin of your choosing). It's pretty neat.
many play streched on a 16:9 monitor, I personally think it's placebo but some think it helps them so whatever
Steam is now Discord and CS:GO is now Battlefield.
Try it before complaining, everything will be okay I promise.
I did, that's why I've said that it's a great ui overall except for showing the player models, I say it is a waste if space that could've been used to permanently show the friends list instead of hiding it to the side. That's pretty much my main complaint
But should I even come back to the game.
Seems to be slightly dying.
play it but don't get upset because of your rank or if you're losing a match, mm is ruined anyway
Never got upset about that in the first place as I like to use a lot of alts.
Also just installed and played a game. At least theirs still casual (cough cough tf2) but weirdly it took 3 minutes to find a match.
I'm used to finding casual matches in less than 12 seconds.
many have quit csgo which is very unsurprising. Lack of updates is probably the main reason, new more interesting games might be another.
can't be
csgo players are too anal about having easily seen models, especially pros
I don't know, its exactly what I thought too. I wouldn't put it past them to implement it in casual / war games / community servers at least.
So a grand total of zero people would actually bother with them.
There are already server plugins to switch models, and nobody plays valves "casual" modes outside of levelling new accounts to prime.
As far as server plugins, you are right, but that was the case in TF2 also. Not to mention, valve specializes in taking things that already exist and making them into money makers (ie. most of their games).
As far no one playing their casual modes, that just isn't true. There are lots of people playing casual & less but still a decent amount playing their other things at any given time
