Hello, welcome to the FromSoftware megathread! Previously covering only the Souls and Bloodborne titles, with the upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice this thread now covers all From titles.
From Software created the Souls series along with other great games such as Armored Core and King's Field. The Souls games are action/adventure RPGs that are well known by many for their challenging and rewarding gameplay. Demon's Souls is the first game in the series and is exclusive to the PS3. Dark Souls is its spiritual successor, available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Dark Souls 2 is the latest game in the series and is to be released on March 11th, 13th, and 14th worldwide for Xbox 360 and PS3, with the PC version coming out on April 25th. The PC port of the original Dark Souls was not so great, however there are several modifications that help to fix a lot of the problems, you'll find most of them linked below under the "Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition" image. Of all these helpful modifications, DSFix is almost necessary.

The game is set in a reimagining of late 16th century Sengoku-period Japan. The player takes control of a shinobi who was left for dead after his lord was kidnapped and his arm severed by a leading samurai of the Ashina clan.. The shinobi awakens to find that his missing arm has been replaced with a prosthetic by a mysterious busshi who dubs him Sekiro, or "the one-armed wolf". Armed with a katana and the prosthetic, which allows for various tools and gadgets to be installed on it, he sets out to rescue his lord and get revenge.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an upcoming action-adventure game played from a third-person view. Although compared to FromSoftware's Souls series, the game features no role-playing game elements, such as character creation, classes, and equipment upgrades, as well as having no multiplayer elements. Rather than attacking to whittle an enemy's health points, combat in Sekiro revolves around using a katana to attack their poise and balance instead, which eventually leads to an opening that allows for a single killing blow. The game also features stealth elements, allowing players to immediately eliminate enemies if they can get in range undetected. In addition, the player character has the ability to use various tools to assist with combat and exploration, such as a grappling hook and a torch. If the player character dies, they are revived on the spot instead of respawning at earlier checkpoints. There is an added focus on mobility, adding a jump ability unseen in the Souls style of gameplay.

Dark Souls III is an action role-playing game set in a third-person perspective, similar to previous games in the series. According to lead director and series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's gameplay design followed "closely from Dark Souls II". Players are equipped with a variety of weapons including shortbows, explosives like fire bombs, greatswords and dual-wielding swords to fight against enemies, and shields that can be used to deflect an enemies' attack and protect the player from suffering damage. In addition, attacks can be evaded through dodge-rolling. Bonfires, which serve as checkpoints, return from previous installments. Ashes, according to Miyazaki, play an important role in the game. Magic is featured in the game and the magic meter returns from Demon's Souls. Each attack has two different styles. One of them is standard attack, while another provides power-ups to players, and is slightly more powerful. When performing miracles and spells, the players' magic points are consumed and decreased. In order to refill these points, they need to consume an "Ash Estus Flask". There are two different Estus Flasks in the game. One of them refills hit points like previous games in the series, while another helps refill magic points. Combat and movements were made faster and more fluid in Dark Souls III. Several players' movements, such as backstepping and swinging heavy weapons, can be performed more rapidly, allowing players to deal more damage in a short period of time.
Throughout the game, players encounter different types of enemies, each with different behaviors. Some of them change their combat pattern during battles. New combat features are introduced in Dark Souls III, including "Weapon Arts", which are special abilities that vary from weapon to weapon that enable extra damage and unique movesets for a limited time, at the cost of magic points. Small gravestones are introduced. These gravestones light up when interacted with and not only serve as players' torches, but also provide additional lore to the game. The game puts more focus on role-playing, in which the character builder is expanded and weapons are improved to provide more tactical options to players. The game features fewer maps than its predecessor Dark Souls II, but levels were interconnected and were made larger, which encourages exploration. The adaptability stat from Dark Souls II was removed from Dark Souls III. The game features multiplayer elements, like the previous games in the series.

mbark on a journey through an entirely different world within the Dark Souls II universe, where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern.
It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded.
Explore in search of a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past.
The story of Dark Souls II is not directly connected to Dark Souls, though they are set in the same world.
The protagonist finds themselves in the Kingdom of Drangleic, a once powerful and prosperous land which fell into
ruin and damnation after a series of unfortunate events, in search of a cure for their affliction, the curse of
the Undead.
During the glory days of Drangleic, the realm was ruled over by King Vendrick, a just and honorable king who led
his country to prosperity with the help of his high-ranking knights, who were selected by the king himself for
demonstrating both valor and charity.
Drangleic was also known for its brave soldiers, the Defenders, who were known for using both pyromancies and
advanced swordplay techniques to slay their foes. Due to this, the Defenders were the most feared soldiers in
all of the kingdoms. The only warriors who were able to put a challenge to the Defenders were the Silverdrake
Knights of Lindeldt, whose ability for casting miracles during battle made them worthy rivals to Drangleic's army.
Cursed with the fate of the undead, will you fall like the mighty knights before you or will you rise and find a cure?

In the Age of Ancients, the world was unformed, shrouded by fog, a land of grey crags, archtrees, and everlasting
dragons but then there was fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course.. Light and Dark.
Then, from the Dark, they came and found the Souls of Lords within the flame.
Nito, the first of the dead. The Witch of Izalith, and her daughters of chaos. Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights.
And the furtive pygmy, so easily forgotten. With the Strength of Lords, they challenged the dragons. Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled
apart their stone scales. The witches weaved great firestorms. Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease. And Seath the
Scaleless betrayed his own, and the dragons were no more. Thus began the Age of Fire.
But soon, the flames will fade, and only Dark will remain. Even now, there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless
nights. And amongst the living are seen, carriers of the accursed Darksign.
As an accursed undead, your journey starts here in this land of fallen dragons and failed gods.
Will you regain your humanity and rise to face the challenges ahead or will you simply hollow and admit defeat?

Demon's Souls was the first game in the Souls series and is stand alone. There is no Demon's Souls 2 at this point in time.
The game is set in the kingdom of Boletaria, ruled by the aging King Allant XII. Because of his greed, the king searched for power and prosperity through a dark ritual of channeling the power of souls that brought unprecedented prosperity to Boletaria, until the "Deep Fog" covered the land's outskirts, cutting off the kingdom from the outside world. Neighboring kingdoms sent scouts to investigate but none returned after entering the fog. It was only after Vallarfax of the royal Twin Fangs broke free from the fog that the rest of the world could be told of Boletaria's plight. By channeling souls, King Allant had awakened the Old One, a great demon residing below the Nexus. With the Old One's awakening, a dark fog had swept in that within it unleashed demons who feasted on the souls of mankind, where those left alive without a soul became insane and violent. Without resistance, the fog slowly begins to spread beyond Boletaria.
This is where you, the player come in. Will you attempt to help save the Kingdom of Bolataria or will you side with the demons and feast on the souls of mankind?

please remove that king's field clip in the OP it's very spooky
If anybody knows how to create quotes while editing a post go ahead and share so I can fix the links in the OP.
'Dark Souls 2 is the latest game in the series and is to be released on March 11th, 13th, and 14th...'
How long has it been since someone last edited the OP
Armored core is my favorite soulsborne
Can't do images in quotes.
I don't need images in quotes, I just wanted to make that list of DS1 links less page-stretching.
You don't need the stuff in quotes. This should work.

Okay, guess I won't bother then. The tags were unfixed since I ran out of time while making the OP, so thanks for doing that.
Recently, I beat Shadow Tower Abyss. Let me tell you random things about it.
If you're not familiar, Shadow Tower was a King's Field-esque game by From Software, released in 1998 for the PlayStation and Shadow Tower Abyss is a Japanese only PS2 sequel to it.
WORLD AND ATMOSPHERE
If you thought Dark Souls was lonely and desolate, Abyss is even more that.
The atmosphere is strong. Right at the start, you start in the dark with a torch lighting a corner.
The torch goes out after a few seconds and it goes pitch black, until your eyes adapt to the darkness, you then descend down the stairs into the unknown darkness.
The game also has no music beyond the title screen and short stingers when entering an area.
Hearing nothing but your echoing footsteps, howling darkness and wandering enemies creates an intimidating world.
The world design is crazy, obscure and eldritch. There are different areas, all with different designs, many being otherworldly.
GAMEPLAY AND COMBAT
The combat is improved from King's Field, instead of a power meter, you have points. For example with 3 points, you can swing up to three times.
You can swing left, right, downwards and stab.
Almost every enemy has limbs that can be severed, cutting off arms to reduce their combat capabilities, legs to slow, eyestalks to blind, wings to force them to the ground or taking their head off for a quick kill.
This makes the combat very visceral, every hit feels powerful and lining up your swings to cut enemies apart is rewarding.
Also, guns. If a sword doesn't quite cut it, bring a shotgun. Ammunition is limited however, so they're best saved for when you really need to lay the smackdown.
Magic also returns but instead of learning it, you need magic rings which have limited durability.
There are no traditional level ups. Your stats slowly improve as you defeat enemies.
You also find soul pots that can be used to distribute points to your attributes. Whatever half of the stats do however, I don't know.
The game has tons of equipment, well over a hundred weapons and armor, both modern and medieval fantasy.
You can be decked out in military gear, wielding a sword or be a knight with a gun.
All arm armor is also modeled and you'll see whatever you're wearing, which is a great detail.
Beware though, there is a carry weight limit, going over your weight limit slows you down and if you go too far, your health will actually start draining.
I couldn't figure out any way of dropping items either.
ECONOMY
Money is rare, so you need to carefully consider how to use it.
Items can be sold for a small sum and you'll often exchange old gear for new stuff.
Items in the store are also limited, so you can't stock up on a ton of potions. New stock appears whenever you progress.
You can repair your items but this isn't done with money, you pay with your current health.
To sum up the game:
https://i.imgflip.com/1mx67r.jpg
The game isn't very long, taking 8-10 hours to beat. I would recommend trying it out if you can. It has a fan translation available.
The start is a bit difficult with your low health and scarce resources but later parts are easier when you're decked out.
I recommend using Control Setting 4, as it gives you standard first person controls and puts your attacks to the shoulder buttons, the default setting is not great.
Also, being Japan only, you'll need to get used to the O to confirm, X to cancel menus.
i wonder if patches will appear in sekiro
Or the moonlight blade.
i have no doubt the moonlight blade will be present, im just curious about patches. Hopefully he continues pushing us into danger we were going to explore anyways.
Also does no one ever seem to realize when he pushes you down cliffs via cutscenes or whtever, he negates fall damage
I want a new Armored Core and have it be on PC. There's a few mecha games but none with the customization of AC; also 5 + 5.5 were really meh. In my opinion 4 and 4.5 had the best gameplay, but they could maybe tone down the anime super-fast thruster dashes.
Finished the "Knights Honor" achievement the other night.
I now have a deep hatred for the Channelers. Even with item discovery maxed, it took hours of farming them for one of them to finally drop the Trident, which was the second to last weapon I needed.
Now to get all the Pyromancies/Sorceries/Miracles and the last few weapon upgrade achievements.
Got all the weapon upgrade achievements (minus Fire because I need that damn slab), but doing Knight's Honor is gonna' be such a bitch.
I'm playing at 4K and Remastered has this weird shit where it goes to half speed when I'm near large enemies. It got stuck like this on the bridge outside sen's fortress one time. It was clearly not lagging or tanking out...it was locked at a constant 30fps, no fluctuation, just half everything.
My tl:dr is that it's less janky, some things look better, some things look kinda dull. I thought Quelaag looked pretty cool (and not just THAT part of her).
has noone mentioned how the remaster is the first ds game to support ultrawide properly out of the box?
I appreciated this, was the first thing I noticed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrRRXgSGlYc
Pruld has blessed with a new video. (Turn on subtitles)
Honestly, the only bad part was getting the Channeler's Trident. Even with maxed item discovery, it took hours upon hours of farming to finally get one to drop.
On a barely related note, I had an invader get absolutely destroyed by Solaire in Anor Londo during my Knight's Honor run. I didn't even get any hits in on the guy, myself. Solaire took him out single-handedly.
tfw die to orphan of kos with 3~ hits to go
im dying in real life
That just means you're getting better, keep it up.
ZullieTheWitch has been cooking up some really cool shit lately.
https://twitter.com/ZullieTheWitch/status/1011333851195600896
Funny enough it only took me about 20 minutes until one finally dropped the trident. Wish I could take that luck and put it towards that red titanite slab...
May have been posted last thread but I don't remember seeing it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzfJs-ikItE
Kinda interesting to see how different DS2 could have been
Also my favorite part of the cut dialogue relates to Shalquoir staying in Majula because she's found a comfortable pot/box to curl up in
Samurais?
So I tried downloading Demon's Souls on the PSN and it's almost unplayably janky. The game treats thumbstick position as more of a suggestion than an instruction, fucking me over multiple times by doing stuff like making me go left when I was holding it all the way back. There's this huge gap between the end of the hitstun animation and when I can do stuff again, so my character keeps standing there and doing nothing. And sometimes it just drops inputs completely so my character drops their shield and I take a hit I would've blocked.
Is this normal or is my download/PS3/controllers messed up?
I feel like I should actually play through Dark Souls 3. I think I only got to Vordt(?) before stopping the game for some reason. Each time I start the game, I get an urge just to play Bloodborne or DkS2 tbh. But I really wanna play through the cool bosses that everyone talks about, and that there's a great (?) ending.
Sekiro can't come soon enough.
It's worth playing through the whole game just for the Nameless King and the Lothric brothers fights.
It's a fucking great game, though. Once you get into it you won't be able to put it down. The level design is significantly better than DkS2 as well and there are some absolutely stunning scenes.
