John knew too much. Like Peppa Pig, he had to be silenced for the glory of Mother China. /s
they have the most to lose
It was really weird, the day after I watched John Oliver's segment on it, I saw a Chinese Road and Belt 'info truck' in my city.
streisand effect when i mean they kinda just proven his points
i don't think it's merely about power, it's that their govt is illegitimate and oppressive and sees free thought and free speech as the enemy, same as the soviets, the venezuelans, or any other oppressive regime plus there's probably the whole asian face thing going on, but maybe i'm just talking out my ass
Well that took longer than expected.
Yeah sure man. Since when was Xi Jinping's "Power for Life", Putin's corruption and power, The Federal Budget, Gerrymandering, Weed Legalization, The Russian Investigation, and Trump's dealing with Foreign powers and possibly being under the influence of Putin himself relevant?
Are you real?
Did John Oliver shoot your cat or something?
Holy shit at that flash game around the nine minute mark. That's like if Fox News started putting shitty games on their site about locking Hillary up and arresting the Democrats for treason. Actually, I'm shocked that isn't a thing yet already: baby boomers would probably eat that shit up.
Dystopian Hellscape silences more criticism.
Because political corruption, governmental crisises and dictatorships... don't matter? What would you have him talk about, video games? Star wars?
Because censoring all media and pretending nothing ever happened worked out just fine in their favor. Just like that thing at Tiananmen Square which didn't happen. Oh, wait.
this is your big worry? not the authoritarianism and censorship (apparently that's a pointless thing to complain about, we should all be fine with it), but the fact john oliver might do more pieces bringing attention to those problems?
