Jesus Christ that's the official name of the law. Disgusting that conspiracy theorists are having their way in Hungary.
Parliament also passed a constitutional amendment stating that an “alien population” cannot be settled in Hungary - a swipe at Brussels over its migrant quota plan. The prime minister Viktor Orbán’s right-wing Fidesz party has a two-thirds majority in the chamber. You know shit is fucked when you read "Oh yeah they also amended the constitution with some political bullshit as well as a sidenote, no biggie"
Just a reminder that overall, Hungary has 6.500 refugees (http://www.unhcr.org/statistics/unhcrstats/5b27be547/unhcr-global-trends-2017.html), i.e. ~0.06% of their population or 0.6 people of a 1000 - and they only admit two asylum-seekers per day.
Alongside with the vote on the "Stop Soros" package, an amendment package to the constituion was also voted on, which contains five things basically: Alien population (en masse) cannot be settled in the country "It is the responsibility of all government agencies to protect the self-identity and Christian culture of Hungary" Restriction of the freedom of assembly in cases when it'd disturb a persons home (tbh this one is not that big of a deal, no one protested in front of politicians houses either way) Illegalization of homelessnes at public places, and alongside that both the state and local govts have to try to provide shelter Creation of administrative courts alongside regular ones (I think this is the same system Austria has now) Also Stop Soros is actually the "light" version (this was due to foreign - mostly german - pressure), as it was passed in a way that it doesn't require special taxation from NGOs which aid illegal immigration, and said NGOs won't require permission to operate from the Ministry of Interior.
Just goes to show how powerful lies, appealing to fear and scapegoating still is. These past few years have shaken my belief in democracy to the very core.
