European human rights court rejects appeal by Norwegian mass kil..
The European Court of Human Rights rejected on Thursday an appeal by Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik who says his near-isolation in prison amounts to inhuman and degrading treatment.
Breivik, who has legally changed his name to Fjotolf Hansen, killed 77 people in a car bombing in central Oslo and shooting spree on Utoeya island in 2011, the worst act of violence in the Nordic country since World War Two.
“The decision is final,” it said.
Norway says that draconian measures, including hundreds of strip searches and no contact with other inmates, are justified for an unrepentant 39-year-old far-right extremist who could be attacked by other prisoners.
Breivik is serving Norway’s longest sentence — 21 years with the possibility of an extension. His only contacts are lawyers and professionals such as guards and health workers.
Why the hell do he want to get out? That prison is his only lifeline as there are countless parents who are waiting outside for justice.
Freedom for him is a death-sentence.
Good, he is getting way better treatment then he ever deserved. He did the unspeakable and wants to be treated like a hero. He should be happy we still treat him like a human being.
He wants better treatment, not to get out.
Read the article.
They should just have him locked up permanently in a mental hospital. Pretty obvious that he is a psychopath. 21 years in jail is not enough.
yeah no sorry anders, but its either your safety or your death, and god knows I couldn't care for whichever you got.
My guess is he'd wanna travel to the US and get politically active
Could ship him here.
We'd treat him fairly

Prison life as an unrepentant mass murderer not as glamorous as he thought it would be uh
This is the best punishment for people like him, he expected to start a great revolution and be hailed a hero and now he gets to rot in prison like the human trash he is while he falls into obscurity and life goes on as usual
And people still think Scandinavia prisons are great
You can make it really nice, but it doesn't take away the fact that you are in prison.
He's most likely going to be in there for the rest of his life. After he's been in prison for close to the 21 years given he will be assessed by professionals as to if he could be safely released. I'd bet money that they will extend his punishment.
Imagine waiting 21 years to be released then being told you're in for another 21 years
Think I would fucking smash myself again wall.
Maybe nitpicking but why doesn't Reuters call him a terrorist?
He's a lone wolf of course
Because he's white.
We'd probably elect him president.
Well, if you're actually reforming, you'll be fine.
I would have actualy let him out of isolation, just to see how long untill he would beg to back to it.
Our prisons are pretty great, in that they do their job really well (low prison times, low rate of returning criminals)
Of course, the system Breivik has been put into isn't something very many people in Norway will ever get to experience.
Found the actual answer in the Reuters style guide
Reuters may refer without attribution to terrorism and counterterrorism in general, but do not refer to specific events as terrorism. Nor does Reuters use the word terrorist without attribution to qualify specific individuals, groups or events.
Report the subjects of news stories objectively, describing their actions, identity and background. Aim for a dispassionate use of language so that individuals, organisations and governments can make their own judgment on the basis of facts. Seek to use more specific terms, such as “bomber” or “bombing,” “hijacker” or “hijacking,” “attacker” or “attacks,” “gunman” or “gunmen,” etc.
