https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0r3Huk5yco tl;dw I basically just made this video because I wanted to say something about it in video form, It's a sequel but it doesn't fucking feel or look like one, it's not very good in my opinion.
The Crew seems pointless when Forza Horizon 3 is the same thing but way, way better.
Well, Forza is one of Microsoft's few exclusives. So if you don't own an Xbox or a capable PC (or just don't want to deal with the Microsoft Store) it could serve as a substitute.
As far as the graphics go, that doesn't really bother me in a racing game. But I played the beta and it's baffling how many other steps backward they've taken since the original. I hate the change of the story from crime world/undercover FBI agent into generic racing where you're trying to amass social media followers. I hate the UI, especially the areas where you walk around in 1st person and have to literally walk to the other side of the area to access some menu or function instead of the old way of being able to quickly cycle through just by hitting a bumper. I hate that your character doesn't talk or show any emotion, vs the dude in the original who, while not being anything groundbreaking or even memorable really, at least gave you a reason for wanting to see the story through. I hate that they've basically removed any reason to explore the world or enjoy the journey to the next mission since you can now fast travel to any of the races. And what is up with how you start a race? You have to drive into a little enclosure thing that limits your speed while you have to drive up to the starting line? Everything about the game I've seen so far is disappointing and confusing.
I think I'll wait to see how horizon 4 turns out coz this looks wack
That map bothers me greatly.
I really liked the first game, but a lot about the second game just really bothers me. I can't even put my finger on exactly one thing that's ruining it for me. It's more like the sum of a bunch of little things. Like I hate the whole social media followers angle, the world feels much more artificial than the first game, something is off about the UI that I can't quite place, and just the general atmosphere of the game feels off. The most tragic thing about The Crew 2 is that I'm not even sure what they could have done to make a sequel to that game other than completely changing the setting to something totally different like Japan. I got my fill of The Crew with the first game, and I'm not really sure who was asking for a sequel. The first game did a lot, and I loved the gimmick of exploring the entire United States. Obviously the map has to be compressed, but I felt they did a great job of nailing the feel of each of the different regions and cities. You can't really do the same trick twice, especially because the map is largely the same as the first, just with more detail and some landmarks removed (where's the Sears Tower?).
I really hate how you can't wreck the cars. They just get small scratches even from a head-on collision. Car companies really need to grow a pair with that shit. Literally EVERYONE wants to see these cars get blown up and destroyed in-game except you.
Reminds me about GT1 where they signed all those car brands, but were not allowed to damage the cars. So the cars were bumper cars that bounced off each other.
The addition of Boats and Planes was a good choice to add something more to the game, different boats and planes, also giving us more land vehicles to choose from, but there's a lot of shit in the game I don't like. Crew Credits. Fucking Crew Credits, can they just not.
