RIP everyone custom tools
Looks pretty slick. Is the top one the current UI? Looks a little different from 2017.3
Was just watching this - basically it seems like they're going to be doing it pretty incrementally, 2018.1 currently looks basically the same as 2017.3 as far as I know, but it sounds like with this new editor they want to do it bit by bit, starting with more or less just an update to the overall colors of the theme (something like the first image), then changing the layout to get a bit more streamlined over time towards the second image
I really like how it looks overall though not totally sure on the new inspector, though it definitely looks more space efficient, really excited for some of the planned stuff over the next year or so, kinda refreshing to see because for a while it felt like Unity didn't have much exciting stuff in the works
I fucking love this. Going to fix nicely with Visual Studio on the other screen. Also looks super customizable in terms of colours.
Looks a bit too Windows 10-ish. Still very much needed, big improvement over old Unity UI.
There's no problem with that
Hell YES
I hope this doesn't break custom tools too hard. I still have quite a few tools I use between multiple projects.
should be pretty nice with the probuilder ui integrated a little better
I personally don't like this.

Maybe MS Visual Studio would've been a better example but I still kinda think it looks like that. Personally not a fan.
Each to his own I guess
I hope you can still switch to light I don't like dark theme.
I can't imagine it not being locked to pro, although I'd be happy to finally match my home and work UI if they did make it free.
I dunno why they still lock it to pro.
Why can't you imagine it? What about a dark theme makes you think "yeah, this is a pro feature, no personal edition skrubs allowed"
Oh I hope they do. Unity should come up to spec with every other major content creation app and provide a skin that's better for long term use by default. I'm just worried that it's been a status symbol for so long that they'll still gate it off.
I've a suspect as fuck .exe that hasn't failed me yet, which I run, flick a toggle and wham, dark theme on personal (that's it, even Unity still believes itself to be personal). I should note, I don't use Unity outside of random hobbyist stuff, I just can't stand the light theme.
Wonder if it'll still work after this! It's already survived two major Unity versions without ever having network access or being updated.
Lmao hmu with it
Since it turned out to just be C#, decompiling it trivially reveals the mystery. You'll just need a hex editor (even https://hexed.it/ will do). I recommend backing up your O.G. Unity.exe first.
Find the hex string "750833C04883C4205BC38B034883C4205BC3"
Swap the first 5 for a 4, giving you "740833C04883C4205BC38B034883C4205BC3"
???
Your retinas will thank you.
I should note this just does the theme, other than that Unity is still your stock standard Personal edition.
I would recommend you read the symbols and then swaping the value since it may differ from versions...Lmao that was the most hacky thing i've ever say
Nah, if it changes between versions you will not find the former string at all (unless you're really unlucky, or the devs actively want to fuck with you). If you don't find it, you've either already done this or they've shimmied everything around in a new version. Do note you'll need to redo this any time Unity.exe is updated, but this has worked since at least Unity 5.x (when I first used it).
If you want something nicer looking you could try https://forum.unity.com/threads/zios-editor-theme-support.411818/
It has a bunch of different themes and colors.

Yikes, no thanks
Last time I tried Zios it slowed down my editor quite a lot, it also didn't look too good.
No gruvbox no beuno.
