Yep. I'm from Northern VA (just outside of DC) and this place is super liberal. In fact, DC is the most reliably democratic voting district in the United States. Since it was given electoral votes back in the 60s, it has literally never voted Republican. It went something like 90% for Clinton. If you wear a MAGA hat in DC, you're singling yourself out as a tourist, and will likely be given rude service at any restaurant or bar you visit. DC is generally not friendly to Republicans, but wearing a red hat in DC is like wearing a Boy George costume to a Klan rally
Well they're just giving the right what they want, a free for all of people abusing others for their own gratification.
Saw this earlier, this post made me laugh, thought I would share. https://twitter.com/rthrkissawookie/status/1010151265509265410
"Supporters of racist and bigots decry being treated as racist and bigots."
It's funny to me, because Trump staffers and supporters still think that their side/ideology is like a normalized, legitimate, respectable ideology. Like being a conservative in 1992, where yeah maybe you don't agree on taxes or abortion, but at least you're not taking money from russia and sending kids to concentration camps. Then, people treat them like the pieces of shit they are and wonder "Why don't people treat me with respect, when my boss is imprisoning children???"
I feel like this is a thing that happens with any person in the government, not just the Trump admin.
So basically, shitheads are sad that people don't wanna date shitheads. Boohoo, cry me a fucking river.
It's really telling that these stories keep surfacing; there's this continual effort to humanize the "struggle" of Trump supporters against "discrimination" (read: criticism). I wish I had a fuller understanding of what is the purpose of this continual focus in light of more pressing social issues, i.e. real discriminations and social problems.
Seriously, they act like being a trump supporter is like being a minority or something. Its not like a black guy can just change his mind and turn white, or a gay guy become straight.
Trump supporters are not entitled to any respect when they haven't earned it
I halfway suspect that even if they were politely let-down ("Sorry, I don't think this is going to work out", etc.), they'd still find some way to victimize themselves about it.
I think it's good to highlight the growing cultural war between liberals and conservatives. I think what Trump supporters experience (on college campuses for example) is indicative of where politics is in the country. I have no sympathy for them, but if they're reporting that people treat them like pieces of shit, then it means that our national dialogue isn't about a difference of opinion on tax issues, but a cultural rift between the left and the right which pretty much can't be transcended.
If this was occurring in any other context but dating, I might agree, but no, these people are entirely entitled to avoid dating people they are never going to see eye to eye with and to let them know that.
Trump supporters are the most persecuted minority plurality.
I think it's because it's no longer "the left and the right" but "the rest of us and Trump". If you just completely put aside his policies (except the child separations which seem to be needlessly cruel with no real objective beyond creating misery) the things he has said and done before, during, and after running for the Presidency to be, frankly, kind of a shitty person. I don't think less of a person wearing a MAGA hat because the support raising tariffs, or lower corporate tax rates, or regulating abortion. It's because they have, on some level, identified themselves with a vile person.
If it bothers you that you can't find a date because you work for and support an administration that spreads hate and bigotry and has been the subject of ridicule all over the world, then maybe you should reconsider your political stance.
I think a lot of people find it pretty tiresome how memey trump supporters are for a lack of a better word? I dunno, there just seems to be a lack of critical self awareness of how these policies will have serious ramifications. people (like tudd) just treat shit like harmless jokes.
You have no idea how many times across the internet I've found guys who like Trump, simply because he "triggers the liberals". I'm not even joking. Help.
In the words of Fox News, "Womp Womp"
Because for many of them it is. They have no association with reality; there are actual adults now who - if they spent enough time online in their youth - could have been outright raised on the "it's the internet lol" mentality and now think the entire world is "the internet lol". To them, absolutely nothing is of consequence and this entire fiasco is just something for them to circlejerk over on /pol/ and write snide ED articles about how they "pwnd the libs for the lulz". I'm not trying to go all "millennials, grr" but modern internet culture did give rise to - if not a generation - at least an entire demographic of infantile nihilists. They are actually developmentally stunted; no properly-raised individual acts like this.
His cultists getting removed from the human gene pool can only be beneficial.
they have my thoughts and prayers
womp womp
Like these guys didn't have a big enough victim complex.
liberalism gets you laid. spread the word
Hah, get fucked.
Why does the topic of who you voted for even come up in a date
Must admit I wouldn't wanna date someone who voted for Trump (or more realistically in the UK UKIP) it's indicative of a fundamental difference in values which would undoubtedly cause a ruckus down the line.
People often put their job title on their tinder profile. ‘Administration at the White House’ is bound to elicit a response.
