Bethesda claims bugs appeared in the Westworld mobile game  which were evident in the early development of Fallout Shelter. This bug appears when a player starts up a demonstration version of Westworld, and renders the view out-of-focus. http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/06/22/bethesda-suing-warner-bros-for-blatant-rip-off-of-fallout-shelter
The fact that bugs in a Bethesda game were red flags in this is hilarious.
Holy fuck that game looks like weapons-grade dog shit.
*whip crack*
I recognize that flaw...
I didn't notice the Behaviour Interactive connection because I wasn't looking for it, but the first thing I thought when I saw it pop up on Google Play was definitely Fallout Shelter - Westworld Edition
Doesn't look like anything to me
That artstyle is awful.
On one hand, the similar bugs might be proof that they have a point. On the other hand One example given is that "the Westworld mobile game copies FALLOUT SHELTER’s bar room complete with characters sitting at tables drinking oversized mugs of beer" (see below). "We have copyrights on people sitting at tables to drink beer"
Totally not the same at all! https://theawesomer.com/photos/2018/06/westworld_game_1.jpg I mean look, they have a saloon!
Wait a minute, that crash...
oh no, please no, don't remind us
further proof they were features all along
"[ragdoll begins to rapidly clip through the floor]" "yup, that's one of ours all right."
*ragdoll starts shaking around making poolball smacking collision sounds* *Todd Howard seen leaving the office with a gun*
What's more iconic the Source ragdoll flip out sound or the Bethesda one.
Source flip out without question
Tbh I would need to hear a direct comparison
tbh the Source sound just reminds me of all the fun I had in Gmod. Gamebryo's just sounds stupid and every consecutive game I heard it in just annoyed me.
Why don't they sue XCOM Enemy Unknown devs? You build and manage underground base after all :v
Because the issue is not that the games look the same or use the same mechanics. It's that a company that co-developed a game with Bethesda turned around and sold the same game code, which is owned by Bethesda, to another company. According to Bethesda. They're not similar games. They're the same game with slightly different sprites.
I know, I'm just kidding.
Well I don't know about sound, but Bethesda ragdolls have the bones fly apart from each other and into the air and staying there, vibrating intensely, while source models get stuck in floors with dust particles and sound effects rapidly firing out.
The awful bugs in Bethesda games were copyright traps all along.
DRM has gone too far...
They should sue the show itself, westworld is literally a bethesda RPG. I almost think that was the inspiration, like the fundamental premise was "what if Todd made a fallout 5 where every single character is an actual AI indestinguishable from a real human". I'm surprised the hosts didn't glitch out sooner.
The showrunners were pretty open about taking inspiration from open world games and the concept of NPCs specifically, though they mostly cite Red Dead Redemption and GTA as inspirations. It is interesting that both Bethesda and them came up with similar designs for the synth/host making machines and manufacturing process, though they were both probably equally inspired by Da Vinci's Virtuvian Man.
Is there a chance that that design is some generic cleansuit?
It might be from Logan's Run, the inspration of the Institute's aesthetic.
I mean it could be a coincidence or slight inspiration. Fallout 4 Released in November 15, 2015 while the show released around October 2nd, 2016. I mean it could be possible that the show runners saw Fallout 4 and liked the aesthetic of The Institute, but I would imagine by that point the show could've been knee deep into shooting by that time. A costume change like that and the amount of re-shooting involved, i'd imagine would be cutting it close.
