Vinnie Paul, Legendary Drummer for Pantera & Damageplan, Dead at.. Sad day for all metal heads
Only 54 years old, that's way too young. May he rest in peace. Wonder what the cause of death was.
54 is old as fuck for metalheads tbh
What's up with that? Just stimulant / alcohol abuse? These guys seem to drop like flies.
unhealthy lifestyles, imagine the death tolls of straight up punks opposed to metalheads. cigs, beer, liquor, hard drugs etc.
Literally just got woken up to these news, so fucking sad... But now he's jamming and partying with Dime again. Getcha pull you fucking legend
Just heard Pantera on Pandora while at work. Goddamn..
Goddammit, Vinnie Paul was like my favorite of the thrash metal drummers, really a big reason for my learning harder metal songs on drums, and the only reason I listened to Hell Yeah! sometimes... Hope you're having a shot with your little bro in the big tit bar in the sky now.
From what I know Vinnie Paul lived pretty large. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it was drug related but I would suspect that booze has a seriously large part to play in all of this.
Damn, I wonder how he died, thought Phil or Rex would've gone first considering their problems. Poor Jerry, he's lost his wife and both his sons now.
There were plenty of other musicians close to Vinnie that were constantly worried about his hard drinking. Most likely it was related to that, could've been suicide... don't think he was ever really okay after Dimebag was killed right in front of him.
You locked the other thread but at least he got Vinnie's fucking name right in the title.
Rex is clean nowadays I think. He went through a lot of troubles of his own that a lot of people don't really know about. His book is a pretty interesting read. It's a shame that we won't get to hear a proper, full account of Pantera from the original Glam start to the finish in the early 2000s now considering that Vinnie is also gone. The history of Pantera before Cowboys in 1990 is incredibly hard to find out and the only sources other than Rex are now on the other side. I would have loved to have read about all those early days from the Abbott's point of view.
I still can't grasp this happened, being a huge Pantera fan I'm completely devastated. Apparently he died his sleep so I'm guessing cardiac arrest after all the alcohol and the fact that he was overweight. He will be burried between Dimebag and their mother.
