Not at all surprised this happened in one of the shittiest states, too. Jharkhand is essentially as far as rock bottom as you'll get in terms of crime, especially fraud and sexual crimes.
Attackers filmed the assault and used the video to blackmail the women not to go to the police.
"Don't tell anyone that we did this, or we'll provide evidence."
The women of the country really need to start walking around with self defense weapons or something, a repeated message needs to be sent that the opposite sex is not to be fucked with. Even if they still get raped, a fucked up face with a missing eye will still act as a strong detriment.
However attacking just one subject during a gang rape does not necessarily work unless it instantly incapacitates them and allows for escape, so I guess there needs to be some sort of a weapon of defense against entire hostile groups. Even if you take one fucker down, two others will still jump in and get even more pissed off that you hurt their friend.
One of the probable issues in India is that women are taught to be extremely submissive and subservient, which probably makes them feel like THEY are the guilty ones instead of trying to defend themselves somehow.
It's incredibly difficult to change gender attitudes in a country and make the female gender become more aggressive when thy experienced multi generational brain washing that they were inferior just because they were born with a vagina. It's not like they fucking CHOSE to be born as a woman, i'm sure that if they had a choice there would literally be zero fucking women in India right now honestly, or atleast no women in any of the particularly fucked up rapey regions.
You'd be surprised, if that shit actually gets out, as like as not the victims end up killing themselves, or if they do go to the police, the rapists then come to their homes to kill them and their whole family too. It's a damned if you do or don't situation for the most part, even the government got so fed up that if a rapist gets caught raping somebody below 12 years of age, they get the death sentence, and nothing else.
Aren't we talking about the country where rape victims get arrested for infidelity, or was that some other shithole?
Unfortunately India appears to be the one. The poor women in there literally have no one rely on but themselves honestly.
The primary issue here is that most of India, except for the urbanized bits, tends to rather violently object to change, especially if that change eats away at what they perceive as their traditional rights and customs. It's asinine as fuck, but short of a massive program to counter this attitude that extends all the way into every little village in bumfuck nowhere, nothing will change. Hell, shit isnt so great even in the towns, because god forbid you marry somebody that the family dislikes, or if they happen to come from a different caste. Then you get killed along with the husband and dumped on the railroad tracks to erase evidence.
This is legitimately some middle ages level shit.
