The most happening cathedral in England is Gloucester cathedral. This holy place has everything: a funky ceiling, a cool courtyard, a hella crypt, and literally Hogwarts.

WILDCARD! This is neither a cathedral, nor in England, but only a fool would deny that Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik is iconic, and the only church I've been to that had a lift for the tower. Unfortunately there are no McDonald's in Iceland, so the locals are generally fit enough to take the stairs, and it's windy as hell as up there. Also it won't look like this, it'll be raining:
