Even as Democrats continue to win close elections in Florida, there is growing evidence that animus toward President Donald Trump may be diminishing as a potential factor in the
state’s upcoming midterm contests.
A new poll conducted for CBS News by YouGov provides the latest piece of good news for Republicans hoping to beat back a predicted “blue wave.” Among likely Florida voters, Trump
has an approval rating of 53 percent in the poll, while 48 percent disapprove of the president’s job performance.
The online survey of 1,002 registered voted — conducted between June 19 and June 22 — comes on the heels of a Politico poll released last week that had Trump at 48 percent
approval in Florida and 49 percent disapproval.
Trump’s approval rating has been on the rise in Florida. A Quinnipiac University Poll from February had Trump at 42 percent approval in the state and 54 percent disapproval.
Democrats have been energized to push back against Trump and the GOP agenda and are notching significant victories around the state. The party has been on a roll in Florida over
the last 18 months, winning all of the closely-watched races that political observers considered bellwether contests, including a Miami state Senate seat and the mayor’s race in St.
Petersburg.
Being associated with Trump has not hurt candidates such as Gov. Rick Scott. The CBS poll had Scott, a Republican who strongly backed Trump in 2016, leading by five percentage
points among likely voters in his bid to unseat Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson. Scott had the support of 46 percent of likely voters, compared to 41 percent for Nelson. The governor’s
approval rating in the poll is 62 percent among likely voters.
The poll also found that 55 percent of likely Florida voters disapprove of removing children from their parents when families cross the border illegally.
Gallup’s weekly tracking poll, released Monday, had Trump’s approval rating nationwide dropping to 41 percent during the controversy, a four-point slide.
That three percent that disapprove of family seperation yet still support Trump.
All that sun must be cooking their brains in their skulls.
northern florida was a mistake
please sever that part of my state
its all the old conservatives moving into the swamp known as The Village, its like 98% White and the people there are rediculously disconnected from society
Can confirm. Boomers are bad. Florida boomers are like a fuckin alien species.
I heard STDs are super rampant in The Villages (Florida’s friendliest home town~) because it’s full of fossilized swingers.
That three EIGHT percent that disapprove of family seperation yet still support Trump.
Guaranteed most of them are single issue Evangelical voters - that single issue being establishing a Christian Theocracy. All the bad things Trump has done both as a president and in his personal life are secondary to his usefulness as a political pawn. He already appointed Neil Gorsuch to the supreme court, paving the way for "god-honoring" decisions like the liberty for buisnesses discriminate against gay people, and (in their hope) the eventual overturn of Roe V. Wade. That alone absolves him in their minds, because it's all about the end game of establishing Christian Dominion over the country in preparation for the apocalypse.
These people are arguably more dangerous than the average baby boomers, because while baby boomers are often just petty racists who are barely smart enough to know their ass from their dick, Christian Domionists are playing an insidiously smart political game, and have been doing so for decades. Trump is proving to be more useful to them than a Bush or a Reagan, because while previous Republicans had convictions of their own and wouldn't necessarily fall in line with the fundamentalist agenda, Trump is so vapid he can be easily swayed to do whatever people like Mike Pnce (AKA the arch Domionist in chief) want him to do.
I can't stand my city, full of old farts driving beamers and mall crawlers with info wars bumper stickers. Just driving to work makes me want to fucking gag.
Derp it's actually two percent.
Get me out of this hellhole.
Wow, so trump apparently doesn't have the racist xenophobe vote completely cornered? Who do they want to run in 2020? David Duke?
The other day i saw a bumper sticker that said "my dog is a republican too!" with some old boomer in her brand new Chrysler 350c.
Ugh my brain is fried from too much Hexcells and not enough sleep. I was right originally, 53% support Trump, 45% support family seperation.
The irony is that Chrysler assembles 300-series vehicles in Ontario. If NAFTA gets chucked out the window, suddenly getting spare parts for her car is going to cost significantly more.
Just as long as no one reaches for any butterfly ballots I think we can avoid a disaster this time.
reminds me of that gif that was posted when Florida swung Trump back up during the ballet counting of Bugs Bunny sawing florida off the map
fucking hate my shithole state

Real talk, southern Florida is pretty chill. Northern Florida is a goddamn nightmare.
The further south you drive in Florida, the further North you get.
Conversely, the further north you drive in Florida, the further south you go.
Combined, this is the perfect explanation of Florida there is.
