This is my problem. I use Windows 7.
I dont get exact error but sometimes when closing the game I get a "Fatal exception error" (something like that) before the game will shut down.
Have you verified your Steam and game files through the Steam page to see if its up to date and fully installed ?
I am also using Win 7 pro.
I checked the game files in Steam several times.
Saw this response for the error in another forum
They suggested reinstalling C*** Redistributable files
