Ms Innes lodged a complaint about the incident, which she said was blatant racism from the Swan Taxis driver. She told ABC Radio Perth it was about 4:30pm on a Thursday afternoon after a long day at work when she got into the first cab on the rank on William Street in the CBD, only to be immediately kicked out by the driver. Ms Innes said she was told twice to get out and, feeling tired and frustrated, she stepped out and into the next taxi in the queue. She said that driver had seen the incident unfold in front of him and was not going to stand for it. "He pulled up behind the first driver and basically said to him, 'You're on the rank, it's not a car park, you take the fare, it's the same money,' but the first driver just told him to get f***ed," she said. "He told me he probably would have given the driver a mouthful back if I wasn't sitting in his car but said he doesn't swear like that in front of ladies. "He was so apologetic to me and so angry, it lifted my heart." http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-26/reconciliation-wa-chairwoman-refused-taxi-because-of-race/9910360
All I get from this article is that the taxi driver was a cunt and just didn't want to drive her. I don't see the racism in that...
I once saw a cab speed off when an aboriginal woman tried to get in. It was driven by a Middle Eastern or Indian dude too.
You might want to read between the lines there then mate because I assure you her race had something to do with him not wanting to take her.
So the article doesn't say the taxi driver said anything except telling them to get out? There is no mention of race anywhere except by the person lodging the complaint. There is nothing at all to indicate the driver was doing anything other then kicking her out of his cab, how do you know he isn't on lunch, how do you know he didn't get a call telling him his brother just got shot? There is literally ZERO indication from this article. Wow, I didn't realize thats how australia worked, I'm kinda glad we have the whole innocent until proven guilty thing, but to each their own.
So the taxi was at the start of the rank with the bloke in it and we're to assume that he wasn't looking for a fare? Right. The article also talks about other instances with other Aboriginal people who have been refused fares because of their race. Aboriginal people have historically (and still are) subject to racial discrimination in Australia, especially in Western Australia. It's ain't fucking hard to put two and two together about the reason why he refused to take her, seeing as there is a history of taxi drivers in Perth refusing service to Aboriginal people. But no, let's continue to apologise for his actions just because he didn't loudly declare "I'm not taking you because you are Aboriginal". Because actions are only racist if they are declared to be. I'm shocked at how you can purposefully ignore the glaring subtext of the entire situation just because the way the article was written. Also by the way we do have racial discrimination laws in Australia.
Racial discrimination in the provision of goods and services is strictly illegal though, this doesn't have anything to do with nationality or citizenship because she is an Australian and a citizen.
She doesn't look like abo at all
