SQ 788 Passes, Legalizing Medical Marijuana In Oklahoma
"OKLAHOMA CITY -
Medical marijuana will be legal in the state of Oklahoma.
Voters have passed State Question 788.
The measure was a hotly debated issue and was a factor in driving up voter turnout during the primary election.
It will make it legal to grow, sell and use marijuana for medicinal purposes. Law enforcement, business, political and faith leaders launched a late, half-million-dollar campaign to defeat it. "
Damn, beat me to it.
I was waiting ever since I got back from voting lol
Since this was the first thread
Should have been State Question 420. Nice going Okies.
Good job my fellow Okies. So glad My state is in the headlines for something decent for once.
I always figured my fellow Okies would pass this sooner or later.
Full blown legalization here we come. This will be an interesting next couple of years...
Now if only New Mexico would follow suit. Not like we have anything else going for us. Unfortunately Martinez seems to be an incredibly stubborn fucker when it comes to marijuana.
huh, I figured OK was a long shot
though I figured that solely because it's a pretty red state if memory serves
Oklahoma is weird because despite being very red we have this weird tendency to support a lot of grassroots candidates. We were one of the few proper primaries that Bernie won handedly.
Too much money to be had from putting people in prison.
I'm genuinely surprised by this, hopefully the federal government will give in soon.
Oklahoma is a very red state. However, we've been dealing with a republican administration for several years whose had a lot of scandals and is overall pretty unpopular in recent years. We actually nearly had medical legalization (I can't remember if it was medical or full legalization) on the ballot for the 2016 election, but Scott Pruitt was the Attorney General at the time. He hemhawed around with the bill and time ran out for it to be put on the ballot.
