akira's soundtrack is one of the best movie soundtracks ever
it works flawlessly both as a soundtrack for the movie that fits its tone and scenes without being intrusive, but also works fantastically as standalone music
the combination of (at the time) modern MIDI instrumentation with traditional music is a great and unique sound that helps it stand out but also fits the visual themes of the movie as well
if you like it and havent yet you should definitely check out the project's other 2 late 80's albums, Ecophony Rinne and Ecophony Gaia, they both use a similar style
