The single most painful thing I heard a bit after Trump was elected was the following sentence:
"Donald Trump will shape the supreme court for decades to come"
If there's any string of words that's able to supernaturally cause despair, those are it.
And gay marriage.
I'm just saying, the Constitution doesn't dictate how many Supreme Court Justices there are. If Democrats have any spine when they take back power, they could increase the size of the court, and add a couple of progressive Justices that way. May be the only way to save reproductive and LGBTQ rights at this point.

I wish the absolute worst thing I can think of to Trump, GOP leaders, nad the rich donors. I want them to experience life destroying mental illness for every day of the rest of their lives.

This is absolute worst-possible-scenario. The next few decades are going to be a dark time for our country.
If anything, this just reiterates why participation in our political system is so important. We cannot afford to sit out elections or take progress for granted.

Any hope our nation had of holding Donald Trump accountable just ended with Kennedy. Kennedy was far from perfect, but he was the most moderate Republican on the Supreme Court, Once he has installed a new right wing loyalist to the court, Donald Trump will be untouchable under the law unless Democrats take both the House and the Senate (extremely unlikely) or the GOP suddenly decides that they don't like having unfettered power and no accountability (never going to happen).
Mueller's investigation now has no authority. In the event that the GOP refused to impeach, the Supreme Court would have been the last line of defense for our nation. The Supreme Court has now fallen.
In the event that Ginsberg is unable to continue service as a justice as well, there will be a Republican supermajority on the Supreme Court, and absolutely nothing to stop Donald Trump and/or the GOP from seizing absolute authority.

Part of me's mad that he can't wait at least a few more months.
But part of me understands that he's probably doing it for his own health, and realizes that the chances of Democrats being able to take back both houses is low, so it doesn't really matter if he does it now or later, because he may not be healthy enough to last until 2020 anyway.
