I can't seem to find a reason for the tile like shimmering on brushes that are some distance away, what could cause this? I tried messing with my own video settings but this had to effect on the problem.
Possible so called decimal loss on individual vertices. Check if all vertex are aligned properly.

Increase lightmap scale on the faces, it does help against this.
This is a long-known problem with antialiasing. Its simply a render bug, there is nothing you can do about it as a mapper. However, as ficool said, you can try to make the effect less obvious by increasing the lightmap scale. This only has a limited impact tho.
Generally you shouldnt worry about it, most maps suffer from this issue and people simply dont notice
