The new "NEW" icon is a smart idea, but it doesn't look right. Looks out of place.

Couldn't something like this be done instead? It's at least a bit more descriptive at first glance, so you don't have to hover your mouse over the table to get a date.

It's more descriptive than "NEW” and looks a lot better than having "NEW" on a bunch of threads I've already read, imo. The yellow does a good enough job to make it pop without being too obnoxious.

i think all the yellow is kinda distracting, either get more yellow in there or get rid of it.
Maybe an icon that would show of a thread that has gotten a lot of responses in a short amount of time, like a hot thread.
The obnoxious NEW icon cheapens the look of the entire site and is very distracting.
