Lot's of people have been hyped by what we've seen of Elder Scrolls 6 so far, which was a single landscape shot.
those awkward long pauses were so great
Tbh you can be somewhat excited for ES6. For the first time with 76 a Bethesda game has more complex RPG mechanics than the previous, and Emil Pagliarulo isn't lead writer anymore, just design director.
I mean even if it doesn't end up being good at all if you enjoyed the previous games in the series it's understandable being excited for a new one even without much or any information.
That always bothered me. Is the concept of playing a game again with a new player character who has different set of skills really that hard to understand for mainstream players?
Yes. Skyrim sold 35 million copies because it was generic as fuck. Witcher 3 sold well, it did not sell 35 million copies. The interesting thing there is the completion ratio and investment. People were WAY more invested in w3, and so more people that played finished. Not finishing Beth games is (because A doing the fetish thing you actually bought the game for over actually investing and B the endings of beth games are literally a fanfare and some speech work about blur blur chosen blur blar blar yay, while witcher is a definite ENDING) actually a now recognized thing, and what gamers are now conditioned to expect from Beth. No one plays for the ending or even fucking cares about it. They play because they can literally whatever the whatever however and never have a fail state come up, and come back to it or leave it at any time with no consequences of any kind when that fancy mod or dlc pops up. 76 is the direct evolution of that; no main thrust, no lasting consequences because of when and where it is, but all the bethesda trademark fiddly shit with ever increasing numbers and ding noises that will keep you slamming on that cocaine bar like a rat in a clear plastic box. TES VI will definitely carry lessons from that over, and for people that whinge about it all Beth had to say is 'Starfield is solely SP' and the Bethesda Defense Force will deploy right on cue. TES VI will probably be like ME3, there's the single player big ol thalmor plot against the last tower blar bah ba baa baa HoonDing swordepenispower chosen one only you blaa baa baa, and probably have a "imperial alliance agent" MP where you just combat around a mini sandbox for lootcrates tamriel's precious artifacts, and just like me3 neither of them will have a definitive arc, protagonist agency or meaningful story/chapter conclusion.
Jeez did Todd shit on your doorstep? I mean even New Vegas wasn't originally going to have the concrete you can't play anymore ending it did, you could keep playing. And the person behind the shit writing is no longer writing there, so hopefully whoever wrote the better written dlcs can made a good plot.
