Capes and cloaks are economic and functional. The biggest drawback to cloaks in particular would be absorbing a lot of rain and while you would remain dry it would be a lot of dampness
coming in to drip-dry.

I'm more of a cape than cloak person. I think short capes especially are stylish. Cloaks aren't very practical with modern devices like cars, bicycles and the sort you encounter in daily life
I disagree. It's just the same as pulling off a dress suit look in modern days, just our ideas of class and coolness have changed. Fashion industry leaders could force such suits, or capes back into mainstream if they so wished
