Codenamed Andromeda, the device has appeared in patents, reports, and in operating system references multiple times and will include a dual-display design. According to a Microsoft internal document obtained by The Verge, it’s also going to be a pocketable Surface device. Source: The Verge
I want it
Wonder if it'll run android- would make sense why they've been working hard on their mobile apps; Office, OneDrive, Edge Browser, Microsoft Launcher interface etc.
No way Microsoft is going to miss a chance to sell Windows mobile
Fav phone I ever had was a windows phone. Nokia Lumia 1310 had a beautiful display, dope CPU, never got hot, and a physical aperture in the camera so exposure was real exposure and not digital. Sad that Windows phones didn't get the attention they deserved, but I hope this thing meets all the things I loved about the old phone
Kinda like the Microsoft courier project from 2007 cool
I can almost guarantee this will run on Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 1000 SoC.
AmiDuoS might make a release.
The notifications on the spine is pretty cool https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/56be2f91-2fd4-4558-baa1-8c448cf32a11/image.png
The Microsoft DS
Is it not? Seems a hell of a missed opportunity.
If it were also a windows phone this would be an instabuy for me, personally.
If you want a dual screen android phone, I would suggest the axon m. My favorite phone so far. (and it still has room for a headphone jack and microsd) https://www.blog-nouvelles-technologies.fr/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/zte-axon-m.jpg
No longer available in America
Holy fuck a Pocket PC
I've been waiting for something like this for a while. I imagine you could probably play some source games on it which would be pretty comfy while on the go.
Windows phone was always the OS I tried to like the most. The phones always had amazing hardware and design but without 3rd party app support it really sucked.
The pictures of the pocket surface reminds me a lot of axon m as well, but knowing surfaces it's gonna cost an arm and a leg to buy.
I don't know what it is, I don't know what it does and I don't know how it works. But I want it.
Is that for real? How well does it work?
My 950XL needs some love, I'll have to give this a go. Got a good link for this whole thing?
The return of the Courier at last? Also yeah, that looks more like a DS at that size/aspect. Still, I'm game if they can make it work. I love Surface products.
How does it work on Android? What's the advantage of having two screens?
I imagine watching something on one while browsing on the other. That's what I'd use it for. There's not a lot but the appeal is there
I could see myself using both screens. Knowing that I am out and about with work, it's hard to reply to emails while trying to extract data from a log file because a fellow employee wants the data with no technical gibberish. I had to keep switching apps or scroll up and down repeatedly with small real estate on dual app display.
I want to know how the hell they are running steam on ARM processor.
Bring back Zune
So current windows 10 arm builds include x86 emulation? I thought it is limited to microsoft, qualcomm and a few OEM companies.
It has several modes. You can either have an app on either screen and multitask with more room, or you can use it as one massive screen. This is great for me since I do a lot of remote desktop work, and the display is big enough to use a desktop ui on. Its also great for reading documents and pdfs, and for viewing and responding to posts on facepunch, since I can use the full size keyboard by having the keyboard take up most of the bottom screen on its side and seeing what im typing in the top screen. I also enjoy using a ds emulator on this thing, it works really well.
the phone screen is the biggest battery drain of a phone and the axon m doubled the screens without doubling the battery size. this thing gets horrid battery life when both screens are on, even during simple things like browsing photos
