PC version is the only one with an uncapped framerate, looks really slick
What I need to know is if the controls are any decent with a keyboard and mouse.
I highly recommend a PS4 Dualshock 4 controller, it has native support on PC (including proper icons) for most modern games nowadays, and even for those that don't, Steam already has a built-in emulator for controller support on and outside Steam there's DS4Windows which does that as well. Alternatively the 360 controller is still supported natively on pretty much any game on PC, and I haven't tried it yet, but I heard a lot of good things about the Xbone Elite. Just not a fan of the X-box's D-pad personally but it's a solid choice.
I can agree, the xbone has a shitty d-pad compared to Dualshock 4. I have a regular xbox one controller and a dualshock 4, and i just use the dualshock now.
Damn that looks slick as hell! The higher FPS really gives the animation a good feel.
Alright, I went out and got a second hand PS4 controller.
I'm currently at 49% of Crash Bandicoot 1 on the remaster, playing it with a keyboard with controls rebound so I can use both hands, and lemme tell you, it feels on point, especially compared to the way it used to be back in the day; the control scheme matches my emulation control scheme and it feels just as good as it used to be.
I also believe, and I'm hoping for you guys to back me up, that they've fixed the dodgy hitbox design present in the original console release. I tried to do some insane ledge jumps without slipping once, and on top of that I was able to rope walk the bridge levels by just holding on the W button and jumping when I had to.
It's overall a freaking great experience and I think that, at least for my PC experience, it's a massive update from emulating the games.
Oh man, I really hope Spyro hits PC and Switch at one point.
The game is and plays really great. I can play it with 120+ with a 970. Just make sure to lower your shadow resolution as it tanks the fps quite a lot.
Also had to force off Vsync through nvidia or it will cap at 60.
Hmm, I think the second motorbike level might be bugged. It took me me about thirty goes to get past it because I kept losing all responsiveness like I'd gone over a speed boost even though I hadn't.
playing this with a keyboard should be fine since some ps1 controllers were like this

Somewhat off-topic, but this sort of thing is why it's so easy for me to play Duck Game with the keyboard. The game doesn't really require you to use the joystick or even the analog triggers unless you wanted to play proper music with the instrument items in the game.
This is what my keyboard layout looks like:

The WASD keys are the DPad buttons, and the JIO; keys are mostly face buttons (The spacebar is for A).
Hell, Crash 1 needed that; if you had a DualShock you had to turn off the analog mode for it to even see the controller.
4K downscaled to my 1080
My diiiick
Crash 1 still makes me wanna break a controller like 20 years later
10/10
The hog levels were harder than the bridge levels
only me?
The hog levels are the fuckin' worst man
I think I ended up using save states because I kept running out of lives
bless the vita
Thankfully the DS1s had a button to toggle analogue mode so it only took half a second to fix.
DS2's had this too.
Yes. The bridge levels are a pain in my ass. The hog levels I can clear with all boxes pretty easily.
The levels had a real rhythm to them. To do without fail is breathtaking still, but otherwise it was simple to master through failure
keyboard makes this game so much easier than it was on ps4. i am blowing through levels that fucked me on ps4
Wait they remastered all three games? Holy shit
Yeah, the remaster is really good. There are a couple of issues (you sometimes slip to the side when landing on an edge because the hitboxes are different than before) and the jetski levels suck ass now, but everything else is great.
Also you can play as Coco on almost any level. It's just the animal riding and vehicle levels which are locked to specific characters.
You can do a trick to unlock the framerate for anyone who has 144hz monitor

It feels so good to play I love it
NOW GIVE US INFAMOUS AND KILLZONE DAMMIT
doesn't it automatically uncap the framerate if you turn of vsync in game? and the 30-60fps setting only takes effect if vsync is on?
if that's not the case, how do i uncap it with an AMD gpu?
Well the games were designed with the D-Pad in mind, or at least Crash 1 was since it predated the Dualshock by a year. Makes sense that it'd be easier to play with keys that work like a D-Pad rather than an analog stick, and that's probably something you can still do on the PS4 version.
You can play the games using the D-pad. It makes Crash 1 MUCH easier. Crash 2 and 3 are probably more personal preference, since they have less square levels but still very linear.
