I always felt like Mercenaries 2 wasn't appreciated enough. I mean, it did have a lot of fauls due to being rushed, but god damn that game was FUN
Prey was easily the most underrated game of last year IMO.
At least when it comes to high profile releases, I'm sure you could name countless great indies nobody's heard if.
Gorky17
it's final fantasy tactics set in a stalker-like universe with resident evil-tier presentation
it barely even works on most PCs but it's hype as shit
one of your party members is even a russian in a track suit that can fuck dudes up with an axe
White Gold: War in Paradise (Xenus 2. White Gold.), or Russian Far Cry with RPG mechanics. It has a lot of bugs, the English is bad (unless you patch the game with the Sound fix that turns the entire dialogue into Russian) but the game is pretty fun.
I also want to mention Precursors, the next game made by the same people. It shares similar mechanics to its previous game (factions, RPG elements, open world, ). It's also buggy, the English voice acting and translation is bad, and the rest of the game's dialogue is in Russian. It's a pretty ambitious game with planet and space exploration, but it takes a while to get into.
I would recommend these two, but I'd advise to save often!
I seriously don't understand this either, how did Red Faction Guerrilla not get a game following in it's foot steps with the destruction tech, seems like the only game that is of recent times is going to be Crackdown 3's multiplayer, whenever it actually fucking releases.
With the red faction / mercenaries chat, I feel a Blast Corps successor utilising the latest destruction physics would be welcomed with open arms - something not too serious and quite welcoming
