i just want fall of man and infamous 1 on pc why you do this sony
Sony doing what it does best, once again!
I remember when Sony were meant to be the good guys and MS the bad ones at the start of the gen
All that money getting to Sony's head
How many times has Sony denied cross-play already? All this is gonna' do is alienate themselves from everyone else and impact their sales.
Rocket League, Fortnite and Minecraft are the other three times I can remember.
With Fortnite being the worst situation out of all. Locking away your progress on other systems as soon as you link your PSN account with your Epic account.
Plus the time Epic accidentally unlocked cross-play. Twice.
I do hope they learn their lesson for the PlayStation 5 and allow cross-platform play, it'd put them back in a good light.
It's this kind of stuff that make me regret buying a ps, they're very anti consumer
But didnt Street Fighter V have crossplay?
TBH developers should dictate to Sony that crossplay will be available or their console won't get a port of the game full stop.
If you actually believed the BS Sony was spouting, sure. Of course, with hysterical headlines like this after Sony pulled the wool over everyone's eyes at E3 2013, it's hard to blame anyone for buying into it:

Gen8 was a farce.
could they just stop being cunts
could people just stop being cunts
please
stop ruining fun
IIRC it was because of a deal Valve and Sony made a long time ago to allow crossplay for Portal 2, though I don't remember how it extended to a single Capcom game.
I don't think Sony will change their position no matter how massive the backlash is. Until they actually start losing sales, nothing will happen, and they've got enough exclusives people want that I don't think it will affect them much in the foreseeable future.
This article is about PS4 and XB1, not PC.
Something I found particularly grimy was during that conference where they were shitting all over the Xbox One they quietly sneaked in that PS Plus would be required for online play now.
Tbh people should have immediately become cautious as fuck of Sony as soon as they pulled that paid online shit.
God knows why people still trusted them so much.
Game like CS that matter, games like vermintide or 76 it does not.
would the XB1 have crossplay with the PC version?
SFV being console-exclusive to PlayStation probably played a big part in it.
The other 8th gen Street Fighter releases (Ultra IV, Anniversary Collection) don't have crossplay at all.
I would assume only with the Windows 10 store edition and not the steam version. Tho it's still possible Steam can get in on it too
It's just business models as usual.
Literally every generation
First Microsoft was on top last gen, then by the end Sony was on top. At the beginning of this gen, Sony was the clear winner, and slowly Sony has fucked it up for themselves.
The only difference now is I still see no reason to get an XBone because all of their exclusives get released on Windows 10 anyway.
Suddenly my mind flashed to an actual in-game console "war".
Sony doesn't seem to have an issue with PS4/PC crossplay, both SFV and Rocket League have it, their issue is with the other consoles.
Meaning that if you are playing multiplats that support crossplay, the PS4 version will always have less players to matchmake with.
This doesn't mean much for bigger games, but something like Titanfall 2 that has a relatively small playerbase would benefit hugely from being able to matchmake with other platforms.
(Titanfall is just an example, I know crossplay wouldn't be enabled for every game retroactively)
The answer to this is probably something along the lines of "MS were already doing it and PS+ was an infinitely better deal due to the free games".
And for a while the free games were an excellent deal, especially on the PS3 until it reached the end of its life. But I've found the PS4 free games to be a bit lacking from time to time. I don't recall anyone being particularly happy about the change, but it wasn't a reason to outright distrust Sony.
Sony have always been really fucking weird about interacting with their competitors, the lack of cross play is an ongoing part of that and I'm not sure they'll ever change it, almost like some kind of warped sense of honour or some shit "oh no no no, we don't let the xbox heathens play with our systems".
I think it's more this misguided idea that they're going to lose out on system sales in a dramatic fashion if they allow connectivity between their rivals. Certain games I can somewhat understand (juggernauts like Battlefield/CoD/Red Dead with the platform-bought marketing), but I don't feel like the same applies to Minecraft, Rocket League, or even Fortnite. Sooner or later, Sony is going to lose more than they're gaining by standing their ground on this. Same thing goes for the lack of backwards compatibility which, despite my complaints about how Microsoft handled the Xbox One, is fucking amazing. Sony can only rely on their strong lineup of exclusives so long before momentum swings the other way again.
oh this explains why I can't logon to Epic on Xbox, what the fuck Sony
