Starcraft did it too. Kerrigan vs Tassadar, Tassadar being the illusion/hologram. It's not an original idea but it's been done more than twice.
Holy shit how did this not come to mind?
Yeah and the next scene in EFLA was ripped off in MGS4 (Snake resetting the whole damn world) It's not really a rip off. At best it's a hommage. At worst it's a movie trope.
TLJ would've been good if we had Luke surfing like in EFLA
I like how this is obviously trying to frame it as something negative ("stolen" "ripped off"), as if borrowing bits from other films hasn't been Star Wars' modus operandi for the past four decades.
Hey, you know what else Star Wars has ripped off? Like, everything.
I can't wait for the hate train on this movie to be over. Like it certainly has a lot of flaws and people can think what they want but jfc people are beating this dead horse into a bloody pulp.
Nah man, the movie was a real mess; and nearly everything that happened in the story just makes zero sense when you really get down to it. They've just established such an uninteresting universe with all of the choices they decided to go with The flow; the visuals and the sound of the movie are top notch which is why the movie is watchable; but in terms of storyboard and framing you could spend days going on about the missteps they took. The wonderful thing about marketing though; is now people are going in to the 9th movie thinking "how can they fix it?". Although I'm not going to say I can't accept the story for what it is, I just personally wonder what's going to happen with the rebels in the next movie because they established there's like 10 rebel ships left...
Someone watched Escape from LA? For those with poor memory, that's the shitty sequel to Escape from New York, not the original. I don't know why someone would insist that the idea is from this, I highly doubt it didn't rip something off itself considering what it is. I also would fully believe it to be a coincidence not directly taken from something else since stuff like this already makes sense in-universe
I never disputed any of that? I said I'm tired of seeing some TLJ hate-piece every time I go on YouTube or the forums.
Yeah this is just another video about The Last Jedi being bad, but it's not even a good video.
It'll be over when the next one comes out and the internet decides to hate on it after everyone says they liked it. I've already got friends who are saying it's gonna be shit because JJ is back on board. As for my quick take on the new trilogy so far, TFA is good if a little too safe, and TLJ is kind of a mess with some enjoyable scenes and cinematography mixed with some baffling ones.
It's absolutely frustrating how polarised TLJ has made people. YouTube and a lot of other internet places are full of people complaining about how it was an utter trash fire that killed the entire Star Wars franchise and shit on everything it stood for, and on the other side a lot of my friends consider it the best Star Wars movie ever and a flawless masterpiece and any mention of the possibility of it having flaws means you're an alt-right women-hating troll. I just want this to be over so we can go back to talking about Star Wars without it being the latest battleground of the culture war.
omg escape from la ripped off total recall!! frauds!
In case no one knows what I mean (4:40 if the video doesn't load there) https://youtu.be/_kAJSswZPvI?t=280
