A UNIVERSITY student is suing a woman for $6 million claiming her false rape accusation at a frat party has destroyed his life.
Catherine Reddington, 22, took to social media posting her brutal tale of assault which Alex Goldman, also 22, says has “destroyed” his life.
The woman from Long Island in New York State claims that Mr Goldman raped her in a bedroom of Syracuse University’s Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity following a party in April 2017.
Onondaga District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick said his office takes sexual assault cases seriously, but in this case, the evidence wasn’t there.
“I woke up in Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity in Alex Goldman’s bed confused, bloody, bruised, with ripped clothing and splinter[s],” Ms Reddington wrote earlier this month.
“Alex Goldman is a rapist.”
Mr Goldman, who was never arrested or charged over the incident, was expelled from his university after the claims surfaced and more recently was fired from his summer internship with an engineering firm when Ms Reddington informed them of the allegations.
However, a police investigation into the allegations found no evidence that Ms Reddington had been raped or even had a sexual encounter with Mr Goldman that night.

The best of all - when asked for comment: Ms Reddington declined comment to The Post, calling it “a matter in the courts”.
Yet she easily took it to facebook to make allegations and fuck up his life.
I hate this fucking extra-judicial shit that goes on in American Universities. Universities are places where you learn, THAT'S IT. The University needs to direct all accusations of rape to the Police. The University has no business in passing judgment on whether or not a crime happened. Sometimes you see cases where the woman reports a rape to the university and then the media blows up saying "University of ____ did nothing!" or you see a case like this where someone was expelled without a fair trial. The Universities need to STOP pretending to be the police.
If they are seen to be doing nothing, and something did happen, then the PR shitstorm wouldn't be worth it... as a result they are overzealous in their reactions to such allegations.
i'm pretty worried about him killing himself, that happens a lot with these fake rape accusations just because of how severely their lives were impacted
He should sue the University for $6m too
See? This was exactly what I was referring to before. A false accusation by itself will completely fuck anyone over regardless of if the accused is guilty or innocent. Something really needs to be done to protect the rights of the accused so they don’t face extrajudicial punishment by society.
Given that people are prosecuted by vigilante justice wouldn't that mean that we are more in an absolute democracy rather than a democracy?
I know my university (and quite a few in my area) have their "own" police department to deal with issues like this. All the university itself does following an accusation is make sure that the two are not allowed to be within the same dorm building at once or be in the same classroom. I saw this system in action with one of my female friends. They keep them seperate, but will not expel the guy unless its brought through court.
But the more stories I read about this, the more it seems certain universities think they can simply have their own court system, which is ludicrous because it always turns into a kangaroo court, its in the universities intrest to kick the accused out immediately to avoid getting the controversy on themselves
...Unless it's a football player, in which case the University will do anything to protect their money maker.
The kind of people who make false rape claims like this are massive narcissists who couldn't give less of a shit about actual rape victims.
Man if he wins that six million she won't be wrong in saying his action ruined her life, though only through her own.
"Zero Tolerance"
I'm sorry, is this an engineering firm or a high school? Absolutely mental.
listen and believe though
I mean I know that rape is a hard thing to prove, but to ruin someone's life, it should at least take fucking circumstantial evidence, e.g. someone to say they were both at a party. To just "listen and believe" is, in all honesty, asinine.
If he wins the case against this bitch that gives him grounds to sue the uni and these fuckers too.
Hope he sues em all and never has to work again.
It's sort of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. Directing all accusations to the police mean nothing if the reporting individual doesn't want the police involved, but if the university decides to do nothing then they're strung up by all of the people flipping their shit. Universities have had an issue for a while about being overly concerned with their image but at the same time this stuff will continue to happen as long as the public continues to lose it's shit as soon as someone makes an accusation.
I'm seeing more and more parallels between modern america and the roman republic. The value of appearance over the truth is strikingly similar. You can't be seen to be doing nothing, even when doing nothing is not your business and actually doing something is borderline illegal and can end wrong in so many more ways than it can end well.
It's so fascinating, i have to wonder if there have been surveys and scientific papers written on the subject. The degree of it is just staggering to me and it's only gotten worse since everyone got twitter. People are projecting and shaming left and right. There are stereotypes of british establishment in the past being fixated on being prim and proper, but the shit i see in american Politics, Hollywood and universities is just straight out of roman times.
It literally is damned if you do damned if you don't situation though. You can go on and on about how it SHOULD be, but under the current climate it's exactly a no win situation for the university. Damned if you do, damned if you don't doesn't mean there is no long term solution to the issue, it just means either immediate action they take in response to the situation at hand is going to bite them. Convincing more people to actually press charges is a much larger issue than universities and assuming other universities are even remotely like the one I work at they very much try to get the victims to take it up with the police. Until there are more overreaching social changes the university is put into a no win situation whenever someone like this makes a massive public stink that basically force massive over reaction by the university lest they be labeled as "that one university that let a rapist go to school there".
You'd think being clear with people that it's police business would be enough.
Too bad it's not
It'll only continue as long as institutions keep bending over backwards to what amounts to committing vigilante justice.
It'll continue so long as people make massivly overblown appeals to emotion in an effort to get the reaction they want and the media eats it up.
well it's not gonna until people take action. Rulers from ancient times and onwards weren't wrong when they said that people need to be told how to feel about shit. The ground tone of discourse on just about anything in modern america needs a change and that change has to come from above. Public positive examples is the only way to go here. because trust me, it's never gonna die down without them. People will burn their own shit to the ground if they think a tantrum will get them results and tantrums are what drives public discourse right now.
This is not some cultural wave you'll want to wait out.
It's quite unfortunate how easy it is to ruin someones life with such an accusation. What goes around comes around, hopefully she'll get what's deserved...
The more I continue to read this the more it feels like a hit piece and that the woman had something specifically personal with the victim here; You can really feel the vitriol coming out and haranguing not just Alex Goldman but anyone associated with him. Especially with the depth of such an article it tries to go and cover every avenue: His Lawyers are insinuated to be incompetent and amoral (when they're not), the Fraternity's declared both to be nepotistic by having an alum defend Alex's "Injustices".
Disgusting.
