Apparently this data:
Bracket 0: 1-15 blocks at 0.1
Bracket 1: 15-50 blocks at 0.15
Bracket 2: 50-125 blocks at 0.2
Bracket 3: 125-200+ blocks at 0.33
... Is incorrect.
Unless two creative servers (intoxicated US and New Horizons) are not up to date or not running the default server settings, it seems that the correct brackets are
Bracket 0: 1-15 blocks at 0.1
Bracket 1: 16-65 blocks at 0.15
Bracket 2: 66-190 blocks at 0.2
Bracket 3: 191+ blocks at 0.33
Am I mistaken? I tested with twig and these are when the cost per twig increased ( at 16, 66, 191 ). I want to make specific builds for each bracket because I play solo, so really would help knowing which bracket is correct, so I can plan my builds accordingly.
Thanks.
@zulu1viper I've updated the page to reflect the numbers reported in the console on the latest build of a vanilla server, with 0 modifications.
The first number set was very close, but we needed to increment brackets 2,3,4 by 1 to reflect the actual ranges appropriately. These are the defaults values when provisioning a brand new, out-of-the-box Vanilla server.
The second set of numbers you have posted from those two servers do not appear to be the defaults and have been modified from the defaults.
I've downloaded the latest server client locally, then ran the command 'find bracket' to reveal the information provided in the first set of numbers. For each bracket I then confirmed the default values.
I went on a live, vanilla, community server and tested this matter for a 3rd time. The results were the same on the previous 2 servers.
If the first bracket data was true, then why does upkeep cost increase only when the 16th, 66th, and 191st block is placed? Am I misunderstanding the way bracket upkeep works?
I honestly cannot answer that beyond what I've mentioned already. All that's left to do is download the latest SteamCMD, install, then run the RUST installation command line. Once complete, run a headless RUST server locally and experiment.
IMHO, there is no authority beyond this, unless the devs are willing to grace us with their knowledge.
I cannot manually test the decay system at present, but if what you are seeing is reproduce-able on a fresh installation of the current released version of the RUST server, you very well may have found a bug. (i.e. The decay brackets are incorrectly reporting the correct block counts).
Can you recommend a server that I can test on to confirm this possible bug? I mean, i tried 3 different servers.
