Its a side note, but why do people hate hwellback (no way Im actually gonna spell his name) so much? Ive read like two of his books and they were pretty interesting and well written, if totally fucked up and weird.

He's hated because the dude was an active racist, and not the usual 1900s racism. Lovecraft's brand of bigotry was extreme even for his time. You can enjoy Lovecraft's work without agreeing with him.
