Does this mean eating almonds is gay?
Almonds are fucking delicious
I'm gonna nut.
It's only gay if the balls touch
Do I have to activate the almonds?
That's nuts.
eat nuts to nut better. sounds legit to me.
The nut lobby is weirdly pretty strong and hinges on marketing their product as good for health, so I'd take this kind of studies with a grain of salt.
Sure, it's not like it will give you cancer or anything. But non-biased nutritionists will tell you the amounts usually recommended by this kind of studies are way overkill. 60g a day is a lot and nuts are extremely calories dense so the health-conscious people who are usually willing to lose weight this type of product targets will most likely have a hard time doing so with those recommandations. IMO if this research turns out false or misrepresentative I'd find it no less disgusting that they're trying to shove their products in the diet of couples who struggle to have kids.
Calories in, calories out. Our bodies are subject to the laws of thermodynamics and I doubt your video contradicts that, even though I can't currently access it at work. 60g of nuts is 400 calories. For reference, someone who's willing to lose weight should eat 200 less calories than they would normally consume. That handful of nuts can be the difference between losing weight an gaining fat. Of course small amounts of nuts doesn't contribute to body fat, but quantity matters more than quality in that regard.
Where does the body store this excess of energy then?
So what you're saying is that this was funded by.... Big nut?
wtf I love nuts now
Good advice, never trust the machinations of Big Nut.
you're just trying to give me one less reason to devour almonds on an almost daily basis
The only problem with nuts is that they're expensive as fuck
makes sense, high fat is good for test levels iirc
What about cashews? They're my favorite "nut"
Our bodies do not break the second rule of themodynamics. We our entropy fighting machines. When you eat nuts, the fats that are a natural part of the nuts are absorbed by your body. They very well could play a role in fat up take in the body. Fat up take isn't actually all that bad though, as you need fats to function and live. It's just a matter of in the right doses. 60 grams of nuts isn't a lot, but it isn't small either. I would question the study a bit more but it doesn't give me anything to worry about.
Fantastic work 10/10. Everything is an advert. 9/11 was an inside job.
i’m allergic.
Yes, calories in - calories out = net change in body mass, but other factors can affect your calories out. Some foods get stored in forms that are a lot harder to break down than others, so it's a lot more difficult to burn those calories. I'm no nutritionist, so I can't speak to where nuts stand in that regard, but quantity isn't everything.
We. Do. Not. Break. The. Second. Law. Of. Thermodynamics. Calories in, calories out. Keto does nothing to prevent that, circumvent that, or anything similar. You have a misunderstanding of Keto diets. https://peterattiamd.com/ This guy is an expert in Keto, and IF. Keto diets do not make you lose weight magically. Keto diets use the power of our bodies to transfer energy from one type, to a different more soluble type, that we then burn off in reserves. In no way, shape or form, does a Keto diet even slightly, give you an edge over thermodynamics.
People spout this thermodynamics stuff but the body isn't a closed system. CICO applies in general but there are exceptions. 200 calories of protein, fat, carbs do different stuff in the body and do not lead to the same weight loss/gain.
While I generally agree with this statement, isn't it a bit of an oversimplification? Isn't the calorie content of food measured by basically burning it up and measuring the amount of heat it gives off? I won't pretend to know anything about the details of biochemical processes that go on inside the body, but it's obvious that different nutrients get metabolized in different ways, and not every part of the food you ingest actually gets absorbed by your body.
Yeah, not every form of food is stored the same way. Some foods get stored in fats quickly, which don't break down easily. This reduces your blood sugar, reducing the amount of energy your body can actually access in the short term, causing you to become more hungry and eat more. Your net change in body mass is still dependent on your calories in and calories out, but both your calories in and calories out can vary substantially depending on other factors, such as what kinds of foods you're eating.
what the fuck does the second law of thermodynamics have to do with any of this?
Everyone went nuts
Mech bgum said Maybe I mis-interpretted this pretty badly, but that sounds like a Keto diet will over rule the natural way the body works. As a proponent of Keto diets for weight loss, I feel fairly comfortable saying that's not how keto works.
