https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-43395483 I remember reading about this attack a while ago. Didn't realize the people have been on the execution list for this long.

Good riddance to another Shin-Tojo, tragic that the thousands maimed because of him will live the rest of their lives suffering for a momentary action.
aum shinrikyo has some crazy shit surrounding it, they owned a station down in australia where they likely made the sarin and possibly might have developed and tested a small nuclear weapon
Damn, they killed Jesus again?
It's Richard Stallman's long lost relative
Didn't even know Aum Shinrikyo was even still around, and assumed the executed this guy years ago.
i hold my head somethin wrong shoko gone a nigga dead
There is zero evidence they ever tested a nuclear weapon.
for real, what the fuck
It's speculation they did since there was an explosion and some people reported seeing a fireball. They hired two nuclear scientists from the Soviet Union for one.
I have my doubts that the people who continuously poisoned themselves testing Sarin Gas deployment, had a complete failure to develop basic biological weapons could even begin to develop a nuclear warhead.
If they ever tested a nuclear weapon it would be easily proven from radioisotope air sampling.
I didn't even know Japan has the death penalty
Where does his hair stop and his beard begin?
Figured he had been dead for a while, so this is somewhat surprising.
About time. I was not even born at the time but the sarin attack was absolutely horrible, not to mention the other crazy shit they did.
man thought this dude bit the dust ages ago.
Hence I said speculation. I never said I believed it.
nukes might be too far but i would not put big-ass fertilizer bombs outside the realm of possibility
Damn man I did not know this, had heard about this cult leader a while ago but didn't know they tested their weapons here. Must of had some serious reach.
I recently watched Wild Wild Country on Netflix, so like 2 days ago I thought about it, which led my train of thought to Aum Shinrikyo, and suddenly this headline. What the fuck are the chances? It's not like I think about Aum Shinrikyo often. Also I totally thought he was dead already.
Japan's penal system is horrible, surprisingly.
Japan has an inhumane/ingenious death penalty. They won't tell you the date of the execution, and they don't tell the family until afterwards, IIRC. At least they don't bill the family.
The only method of execution in Japan is hanging.
A crazy method by which to execute people, in general.
Better than trying to inject people with a complicated cocktail of drugs that only works some of the time.
"Condemned prisoners themselves are usually only told they are to die a few hours before the sentence is carried out". Holy shit imagine waking up in cell - reading a book or something and mid way through page - guard walks in and says: "you done f'd up". Rather be killed in sleep or something.
this triggers harumageddon
They are only executed after they've exhausted all their appeals, so they kinda knew it was coming. Also death penalty is only for the worst of crimes (mostly multiple murders), Japan has a fairly low execution rate for a country that has it legalized, last year it had 4 executions.
