https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-07-03/teen-taken-at-u-s-border-tells-of-icebox-cages-with-60-girls A 15-year-old girl who was forcibly separated from her mother after fleeing to the U.S. from El Salvador described to a Washington State investigator how she was crammed into a windowless room with 60 other girls and deprived of proper sleep or food for three days.
Kinda sounds like you guys might need another revolution at this point, honestly.
The US needs to be liberated and have some goddamn democracy™ installed by a benevolent task force. Jokes aside, this is fucking vile. Makes me absolutely furious to read about. Depriving sleep and food is text-book torture.
This shit is fucking barbaric holy fuck
So when can we start calling them concentration camps?
They'll just call them something else.
With shit like this getting worse, the Supreme Court transforming into a right-wing rubber stamp, and the liberal establishment being less than useless, I'm seriously at loss for an alternative.
We seriously need an undercover expose of these facilities. I'm getting the sense that forced indefinite internment alone isn't enough to spark public outrage; people need to see these horrible conditions for themselves.
How do you propose someone gets in? People have been arrested for trying to, and once you're in you're not getting out. You have to consider these to be actual concentration camps considering this is the situation we find ourselves in.
72% of republicans are strongly proud of our country right now We’re Divided On Patriotism Too | FiveThirtyEight we're already undergoing a revolution, just not one of the good ones
The revolution began when Trump started campaigning on the promise to "Make America Great Again." It was a cry to every racist that it was time to take America back for whitey. Never mind that Trump cares solely about rich white people - less affluent white racists were all too ready to live in a corporate dystopia as long as they didn't have to share it with brown people. As Lyndon B Johnson said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."
Each side has a totally incompatible and uncompromisable worldview now. If immigrant camps aren't enough to get people voting for a democrat, nothing is.
Just MAYBE you shouldn't have told those people not even more than a month ago that they were all irredeemable monsters for owning weapons before trying to court their help for something. Why the hell would they even want to help you with your delusional open borders pipedream while trying to outlaw the right of actual American citizens to self-defence? They damn well know that, even in the delusional chance that they would help you for once, that people like you go back to call them monsters the nanosecond you don't need them anymore.
And that’s just it: Identity Politics is so strong now, that to some, “voting Democrat” is the worse possible offense and would sooner be dead than do it.
Man, if your skin is so fucking thin you become a hard boiled racist because someone said mean words to you, and the absolute inhumanity of this situation doens't wake you up to that, then what else can anyone think of you? People like you would rather be racist and cruel because someone said a bad word to you, than recognize the situation for what it is. The tenous moral high ground people like you keep deploying is the most arbirtrary snowflake safe space bullshit I've ever fucking heard.
If you don't want to stand against these camps that's on you. Take responsibility for your own damn opinions
nah they were jackasses for a long, long time. Trump just brought them out of the wood work.
I have a serious question, I've seen this type of post a lot lately in the forums. "I'm sure our second amendment friends will be fulfilling their promise to fight against tyranny any day now" and the "Wonder if our 2nd amendment friends are gonna help!" What do you exactly want 2nd amendment people to do? Do you want political support? Want an armed uprising? What type of action do you actually want? Because I consider myself a moderate, I own firearms, I carry, and believe in the 2nd amendment. I've spoken out against these practices a lot, I have a lot of hardliner friends who I've discussed this topic with. They agree that it isn't right to treat people this way and are slowly changing their position. So my next question is, if you want to fight tyranny so badly, why do you not do it yourself? Why are you waiting for other people to do the fighting for you? Or is this an epic zinger in some sad attempt to jab at the "other side" when in reality democrats, liberals, independents, moderates, republicans, hard-right, and other fringe political ideologies own firearms. So while you think about that, I'm just going to tell you why not one is grabbing their guns and going to fight. As it currently stands, what is happening is deplorable, it is unjust, and goes against a lot of fundamental beliefs I personally have and what I think this country stands for (or at least used to). The word Tyranny is grossly misused, while what is happening is nothing short of sick and fucked up, you do not like in a tyrannical state. The fact you can write on this forum, you can go out and protest, say what you want, do what you want, read what you want, study what you want and have a very large level of autonomy in your own personal life. Second of all, we live in a democratic republic, for the most part we get to vote and have a say in who represents us. Even though we are heavily against the odds and super PAC's, we sill have that level of freedom. All these issues are ones which can be changed through legislation. We do not live in a state of Tyranny. As it currently stands the political situation does not warrant the use of warfare, to start an armed uprising right now would only deplete any political capital anyone has, but it would also serve as the catalyst to strip away gun rights. Implying what you are implying and people actually doing it is pretty much a very thin political line and can get you labeled as a patriot or a terrorist. You think if a group of armed people overtook one of these detention centers and people got killed they would be called heroes? or would they be called terrorist? You think the public would go out of their way to support and help their case? They would be called terrorists because they jumped the gun (sorry pun) and didn't attempt to utilize the legal system and exhaust all methods. Instead, people are employing that groups of armed citizens take the situation to an extreme which once done you cannot go back from. Everyone talks about civil war but I don't think you know what the true cost would be in this more modern time and as sad as this entire situation is. The best way to defeat this is to expose it for what it is and get people to see the depravity. Once internal pressure starts building up other countries need to start putting the pressure from the outside till the administration caves in. An armed uprising would just be a disaster waiting to happen and sadly, the groups that are radical enough to do it are not going to do it for immigrants. That is likely a good thing because you do not want blood to be spilled on any side, a lot of innocent people will be caught in the cross fire. That is just the reality, did Americas have a uprising against the camps we put the Japaneses into? No. I think a lot of people support the ideal and the ultimate goal for this administrations in regards to illegal immigration. The goal is no different then other administrations in the grand scheme of things, the only difference is this administration is deploying rather cruel methods of dealing with the situation. That being said, I think if it is exposed for what it truly is people will stop supporting it. As sad it is, some people need "more" in order to change their mindset on things. Shoving ideals down their throat, name calling, and all the other negative interactions will only serve to close their minds and they will ignore the truth. Example being is, I have rights who would be extremely conservative - they're not alt right, but very hard lined in their beliefs. When we discuss this topic I talk to them about how people are being treated. My goal isn't to get them "woke" but they listen and I just let it sit with them. Slowly they've been changing their position on the matter. You're not going to change peoples ideals in 2 seconds, it takes time.
I no longer feel any compunction to play nice with these fuckwits who support Trump. I'm not going to be polite any more or try to pretend like "both sides have their own points of view". Fuck that. If you still support Trump, you're a terrible person at best, Nazi at worst
no man you gotta be nice to nazis because fairy logic
It seems to me that it is a slice at single issue voters who cling to this one issue (gun rights) and screech at "the other side" for wanting to encroach on what they feel shouldn't be encroached upon, only for them to go silent and complacent when other and uglier issues are brought to the forefront. There's more to freedom than owning guns. And to put gun issues on a pedestal above treating people humanely is shallow-minded and disgusting behavior.
In theory, the goal wouldn't be to defeat the military, but to bring the economy grinding to a halt so that it has little choice other than to allow the current government to be ejected. Regardless, conventional militaries have not had a good track record when it comes to urban/asymmetrical warfare.
You couldn't have missed the point any harder even if you were blindfolded. The point is that a good amount of the same people who whip out the argument that the 2nd amendment is necessary for opposing tyranny are hypocrites who are actually totally fine with tyranny, just as long as it's tyranny that feeds into their views. They're pussies who are complacent as long as they have their guns, or pussies who won't stand against wannabe tyrants if they're whispering the right things in their ears. They won't stand against them with words, not with protest, not with peaceful actions and yet they want to be taken as a serious last line of defence against tyranny? Yeah okay. The types of people he's calling out sit there jerking each other off over fantasies of being glorious revolutionaries defending America but they wont even take any actions at all, no matter how small, against real injustice and corruption in the government.
No administration prior to this one has wanted to make immigration as a concept no longer applicable to the United States while militarizing our borders while we were not at a time of war. I'm not exaggerating that. It isn't that they don't want illegal immigrants - they don't want immigrants. Period. Refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants, even naturalized immigrants - they want all of them out, legally or illegally. The methods aren't just cruel, they aren't just profoundly racist, they are at odds with our Constitution. No administration before this one has so deeply and so flagrantly violated with impunity and without any sense of remorse the US Constitution.
Haha the libs are going to get so triggered when we start gassing the kids haha
And people got all up in arms when others tried to compare this to how the holocaust started...
Anyone that supports this man is a traitor to all things American, and all thing just. Those who'd die for him should and do us all the favor of not having to deal with this rising Nazi level shit. How dare he turn my country into the reich, and how dare his supporters sit by and let this happen. They will get no remorse from me, just like these innocent families get no remorse from them.
How about we call them something that won't cause everyone to dismiss their severity due to hyperbolic mislabeling?
not sure how exactly this will be handled. not sure if there's much that can be 'legally' done about it in country either since these people aren't technically american citizens. maybe when the courts finally get evidence we can see a full investigation or something.
They have the same legal protections as US citizens. If there's anything wrong about how it's being handled in a Constitutional or Legal sense, that means their rights are being violated and someone's going to get sued, disbarred, or brought before a judge.
